What is the status of the airport restricted area behind the immigration?  Can an authority exercise jurisdiction over foreign citizens during their transit? 
Mikhail Baryshnikov was free when he jumped across the immigration in the movie "White Nights."  A similar scene can be seen in Taiwan TV drama "Paris Airport" decades ago.  The immigration might be the border of jurisdiction.  Taiwan immigration authority arrested an US citizen, who was a ROC national as well, during his transit to China.  It looks like a replay that the exiled Chinese poet and essayist Bei Ling was forced back to Germany during his transit to Taipei through Beijing in November 2011.    revised on 20111106

我一直很有興趣理解的是：機場出境後的區域是何種地位？記得電影《飛躍蘇聯》（White Nights）與電視連續劇《巴黎機場》，都是想投奔自由的人衝過海關後，當地警察就束手無策。
那，為何「持美國護照過境」會被抓？想想2010年11月這時候，中裔美國藝術家貝嶺過境北京被遣返德國，不准轉機來台。

〔記者王定傳／新北報導〕新北市板橋區31歲的莊姓男子，原本就讀靜宜大學應用數學系，遭到退學後以短期出國觀光為由，跑到美國留學，就此滯留海外，但區公所仍照順序幫他抽籤，抽中陸軍1894梯。今年10月間，莊某持美國護照過境桃園機場，前往中國上海旅遊時被通緝到案；莊為規避刑責竟向法官說「我希望聲請放棄中華民國國籍」。

但板橋地院法官就憑這句話，認定莊如今仍具有中華民國國籍，並痛批他嚴重戕害兵役制度公平性，枉顧社會國家公益，依妨害兵役罪判他4個月徒刑，得易科罰金10萬8千元，可上訴；法界人士指出，莊某聲請放棄國籍行為根本沒用，依法他必須先當完兵。
