Tensions between the Philippines' two most powerful political clans, Marcos and Duterte, have become a hot topic. Since January, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has been under attack by his predecessor, President Rodrigo Duterte, through various controversial statements.
One of Duterte's remarks about Bongbong was that he mentioned the son of former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. is a drug user. Duterte also participated in a "Pray Together" event, opposing Bongbong's plans to amend the constitution.
The last amendment to the Philippine Constitution was in 1987, or after Bongbong's father stepped down in 1986. Since then, there has been no plan for amendments until Bongbong's intentions emerged.
