The civil war in Myanmar has become a human rights disaster. Myanmar's civil unrest since the military coup of 2021 has devastated the country's economy, plunged millions of people into extreme poverty, and the fighting has resulted in the deaths of thousands of civilians and the displacement of nearly 3 million people. Myanmar's reputation as a center for drugs, online fraud and money laundering is growing. Its instability poses a strategic dilemma for neighboring countries. Peace seems to have become a luxury. #Myanmar #neighbors #Junta #election
The situation in Myanmar took a major turn on December 3, when the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) issued a statement saying it would immediately cease fire in Myanmar and hold talks with Chinese mediators, hoping that the issue of armed conflict could be resolved through dialogue mediated by China, according to a report by the Lianhe Zaobao. The TNLA had indicated on November 25 that it was willing to hold talks to end the military conflict, while respecting and recognizing the Chinese government's efforts to stabilize the border and end the fighting. The Kachin Independence Army (KIA), following the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), has also demonstrated its willingness to resolve the conflict and end the prolonged armed confrontation through dialog. A KIA colonel also told AFP that a KIA delegation had left for China on December 8 to hold talks with the Chinese government. #Myanmar #neighbors #Junta #election
China does not wish to see war and chaos in Myanmar, nor does it wish to see people's livelihoods suffer; it insists on non-interference in the internal affairs of the country, and supports the Myanmar side in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and national unity; it supports the Myanmar side's commitment to internal stabilization and improvement of people's livelihoods; and it supports all parties in Myanmar to resolve their differences through dialogue and consultation and to find a path of development that is consistent with the country's conditions. China also calls on neighboring countries to work with the Myanmar government to strengthen border control and safeguard the common interests of all countries. Behind these peace initiatives is an indirect manifestation of China's power. China has not only stabilized regional relations through its economic influence, but has also actively engaged in the peace process in Myanmar as a mediator, demonstrating its commitment as a regional leader. #Myanmar #neighbors #Junta #election

The balance of peace requires China's continued wisdom and strength, and more importantly, the compromise and joint efforts of Myanmar's internal forces. For Myanmar's armed forces, returning to the negotiating table is a fresh challenge. For Myanmar's military junta, recognizing differences, seeking consensus and rolling out elections is a true test of wisdom. Only through the joint efforts of all parties can Myanmar move towards peace as soon as possible. #Myanmar #neighbors #Junta #election
