Former anti-drug officer Jonathan Morales stated that he had no intention of attacking anyone and merely wanted to clear his name and prove he was not the one who leaked documents on social media. He said during the hearing, "Firstly, apart from my own death, I gain nothing from this because being accused of the so-called leak is as serious as the accusation of the President himself using drugs."
The Duterte camp continues to dig into Morales' testimony for more explosive revelations and criticizes Marcos Jr. for remaining silent on the matter. On May 4, former presidential spokesman Harry Roque wrote in his commentary column in the Philippine Star weekly, "Since former anti-drug officer Jonathan Morales confirmed in a Senate hearing with the Public Order and Dangerous Drugs Committee that he submitted the relevant report in 2012, the President can no longer avoid the issue."
"Morales testified under oath that these documents are authentic. According to our court rules, once verified, the existence of these documents is considered indisputable. The President should clarify whether he used cocaine 12 years ago and whether he is addicted to the substance up to this point. The people cannot entrust the nation's welfare to a leader allegedly using drugs for years."
