I'm trying to answer the questions from this article:
【Discussion問題討論】
- I never thought about this question before reading this article, I can't imagine that I live at least 10 years without a home. But since we read this article I began to observe homeless people. One day, I heard one homeless man told to another homeless man "Hey, just hang around with me now, anyway, we all don't have work to do. If we can hang around together, we won't feel alone, right?" At that time, I thought maybe the homeless life is better than their real life.
- I'm surprised that so many homeless people want to stay on the streets because there are no shelters on the roads and may come many animals to see them, If the government can help them to find accommodation or help them find a job to support themself, maybe they can live better in the future.
- I believe people don't fear working hard, but they fear they can't earn more money after working hard. In my stereotype, I thought most homeless people didn't have jobs, but after reading more and more articles on the web, I found the fact is not only most homeless people have ever had jobs but also some of them were rich! Some of them were doctors or leaders or top sales, but in their life might encounter some accidents or lost their family, then they couldn't pick themself up, and more
severe people were even getting depression. So, now I believe the fact that almost half of the homeless people had jobs. - I guess the number of homeless people in my country will increase over the next decade. Because the house price is higher and higher per year, our salary can't catch up with the price, so... that's all, I can't say anymore because it is an old question.
- I believe our government must've done something to address homelessness. For example, the government helps homeless people to get jobs. Men can be rough workers or sign workers(or you can say"sign holder), women can be cleaners or work in restaurants. And then, the government provides shelters for these homeless people. I have read a managed way to keep the streets clean. The government gives every homeless people a bag before they go to work, they should put their own things in the bag, and the other things not in the bag will be burned. This way keeps the streets clean and lets homeless people can save their own things.

- I think that is hard. US$425 is about NT$12,000, there is more than half the cost of basic necessities. The monthly meal cost about 8,000~9,000 dollars, and water fee, electricity fee, and telephone bills, which is almost all spent.
Don't talk about Not to mention saving money, you have to beg god to bless you to be healthy and without any accidents forever. Or you will have no other money to help yourself. - I think the most direct effect is the meal fee. In the past, one 便當 cost about 50~60, but now, one 便當 can cost about 100 dollars! Especially the egg price, one tea egg cost about 15 dollars. I hope my salary can increase fast like these meals fee.
- I think housing is a major issue in Taiwan. There is a popular discussion about housing justice, but what is housing justice? I don't know. The rich buy more and more houses and increase the price to sell to the poor. Everyone says that house price is higher and higher per year, if you can't make your mind to buy a new house this year, the house price will be higher next year. Your salary always can't reach the goal of a house. Except you have a rich daddy. And even if you make your mind to buy a house, there is another question: Do you know you might buy an illegal structure? or you buy a house, but it is not built yet and you need to pay a big money to the construction company at the beginning. And you don't know if the building will finish on time and be built successfully?
- I've been living in Taichung for several months. I haven't had any plans to move. Because I don't have enough money to move away. Except my family treats me badly and my husband can't protect me in the future, I'll consider moving away. (If I want to move, I think the one-room apartment will cost me 5000~6000 dollars, which is terrible spending.)
- I think that is Taipei because there is the biggest city in Taiwan. The President's office and the most convenient MRT are there. And many central government agencies are also there. If catch the American Dream is going to New York, then catch the Taiwan Dream is going to Taipei.
