China has pushed Myanmar to calm the internal war and create

    Myanmar borders on China, India, Bangladesh, Laos and other countries, bordering on the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. Myanmar is one of the direct access to the Indian Ocean and plays an important role in the energy supply system. Relying on this geopolitical advantage, China attaches special importance to economic and trade cooperation with Myanmar and regards Myanmar as an important partner in jointly building "Belt and Road". By the end of September 2023, Myanmar had approved Chinese investment of us $21.873 billion, accounting for 23.5 percent of the total foreign investment, according to the Myanmar Investment and Corporation Authority. On December 26,2023, China successfully granted the 99-year renewal of Kyaukpyu Port, which will be the best outlet in Southwest China and even central China; and means that China will greatly reduce its dependence on Malacca trade and energy routes, and Chinese-made products will be easier to access the global market through the Indian Ocean.

    For the need of economic development, China has repeatedly mediated the "10 27" war in northern Myanmar, hoping that all parties will return to peace. In December last year, China facilitated the meeting between the Myanmar government and Kokang, Deang and Ruokai in Kunming, Yunnan, China. The two sides reached an agreement on the temporary ceasefire and maintaining dialogue; From January 10 to 11, the two sides once again pushed China to Kunming and reached a formal ceasefire agreement. As for China, the ceasefire and peace talks in northern Myanmar are in its development interests. They will not only help to maintain peace and stability in the China-Myanmar border area, but also smoothly promote China's project in Myanmar.
