是南洋屬裡唯一的高山種。
婆羅洲南洋大兜蟲主要分佈於婆羅洲的馬來西亞領地～沙巴洲Crocker山脈，海拔800ｍ～1500ｍ山區均有分佈，具有趨光性。婆羅洲南洋大兜雄蟲體長約45-110mm，胸角平行向前延伸，弧度由上往下，有別於CC和CA，前胸背板光澤度弱，雌蟲前胸背板呈三角形狀，鞘翅表面有突起小顆粒，摸起來像細毛的感覺。
婆羅洲南洋大兜雄蟲脾氣暴躁，交配時務必要看著，防止爆母；繁殖使用發酵木屑或兜土即可，容易爛蛋，可以重新給母蟲佈置產房或是使用濕巾紙適當解決。飼育出大型個體不難，幼蟲使用發酵木屑飼養，飼養空間要夠大，長寬最好都大於20cm。
小知識：種名「moellenkampi」為紀念德國鍬甲分類學專家Wilhelm Mollenkamp(1858~1917)所命名，同時也是因為婆羅洲南洋大兜的角形，被當地稱為kapiting（一種吊起倒木的工具）。
