1956年的電影War and Peace取材自著名俄羅斯小說家Tolstoy的經典作品，不僅有著厚實深刻的文本內容，又有一時之選的製作團隊與演員，理論上應能成為如同Gone with the Wind一般的雋永經典，然而卻因為不成功的改編而僅僅成為一部中庸的作品，未達到能與原著看齊的高度。
不用講什麼翻轉世界的大道理，只要專注在每個角色中，就可以感動人心，劇中無厘頭的喜劇路線，很像某些周星馳的電影，滑稽大笑之餘，卻又為劇中的小人物感到一絲哀傷，因為那些軟弱和傷痛的無力感，在我們身上也都有啊！笑著笑著就流淚了，那種笑不是戲謔的訕笑，而是「我懂你，我也是」的體會……
