不經意的放棄：香港 vs 台灣

The documentation revealed the bitter truth that Hong Kong, an agent of India as well as UK, was the factory of the UK-India-China trade triangle.  To UK, HK was never a main player.  The duet was sung by UK and China.
Again and again, the documentation described as “accidental” UK’s obtaining, governing and prospering Hong Kong in history.  UK has never treated Hong Kong seriously.  If the main theme was UK-China relationship, UK of course was more than willing to shape Hong Kong into whatever she thought it should be.
A critical point is that the restoration of Hong Kong meant everything to Beijing wheras it was pointless to London.  Given the fact, anyone could sketch the result long before 1997. 

What about Taiwan?
Taiwan might be nothing more than a tiny ripple to Washington, though she keeps saying that Taiwan is important.  The so-called “strategic value” of Taiwan could be easily replaced or covered by Okinawa and the Philippines.  Is Taiwan still significant to the US?  Would the US surrender Taiwan to China “by accident”?  Could it be possible that MYJ is carrying out the sacred mission by deteriorating Taiwan’s economy and democracy, which is happening now?    revised on 20120515

這部老紀錄片提及一個苦澀的史實：香港是「聯合王國─印度─中國」三角貿易中的對中，既代理印度，也代理聯合王國。對聯合王國而言，香港不是主角，主角是印度、是中國。
更難過的是，記錄片不斷提及「不經意」。香港歸屬聯合王國治下及繁榮，是一連串「不經意」的結果。如果故事的主軸是聯合王國與中國關係，「不經意」取得的香港自然可以為了堆砌與中國的有好關係而被隨意揉捏。
更致命的是：香港對中國很重要，但香港對聯合王國卻可有可無。一拉一推，權重一大一小，結果不言可喻。

那台灣呢？
台灣，也只是美中主軸關係下的口實：美中雙方都說台灣很重要，其實有真有假。
收回台灣對中國很重要，美國卻可透過沖繩與菲律賓彌補失去台灣的成本。這時候，台灣也會被「不經意」丟棄嗎？馬，可能做為某種代理人而透過減損台灣經濟與民主的重要性，執行著「不經意」放棄台灣的任務嗎？。
