As a PM — How to design interview questions?(part 2)

Often, respondents are willing to be interviewed out of product interest or a meager benefit. So making them feel at ease, comfortable, and respected is the basic.
Usually I would suggest that it is best to have two or three interview strategies based on the participant.
A general rule is the order of the interview questions. Sorting the order of interview questions can be considered from two aspects of importance and fluency.
Let me talk about the interview strategy of common types of ordinary consumers . As above, the most important thing is to let them relax and speak freely.
If your interviewee is a talkative and cheerful person, I suggest you talk first, how did you get here? have you eaten? Some small talk.
It’s best to bring it into your product.
“Have you ever used our app when you were bored on the subway?”
If you are targeting students, usually students will be fearful in this situation. I suggest you let it know it’s a relaxed occasion and offer some drinks and snacks first. Remember don’t just tell him you can eat and then you don’t join it. That will make them nervous again.
You can first chat with them about the issues they care about recently, and try to find out whether there is any related to your product.
If your target is business people or office workers. I suggest that you first inform them of the interview process, estimated time, and purpose of the interview. This will showcase your profession and get them into context quickly. Then you can enter the interview process.
In the process of interview questions, ask important questions first, because the early stage of the interview must be the time when the spirit is at its best. Start by letting the interviewee relax and help them get into the situation, then you can start asking the most important questions.
Also, be aware of the fluidity of question topics. Take a software APP as an example.
Why choose to use it? -> What pain point does he solve? -> Why can he solve the pain point? -> What is good design? Are there any unfinished pain points?
This is a fluent question topic discussion.
If you ask first, where do you think the design is good? -> Then ask why you use it?
Users will feel that where I think the design is good is the reason why I use it.
He/ She won’t understand that you want to ask him what pain points he had in the past, this app solves it.
The fluency of the topic is very important.
