'Fluorescent colors belong exclusively to our era, just as mineral pigments belonged to Dunhuang,' says Huang Yuxing. Born in Beijing in 1975, this artist's creative journey is like an exploration through light and shadow. On his canvas, we witness not only the evolution of color but also an artist's profound interpretation of the zeitgeist.

In Huang Yuxing's artistic career, there was a decade-long 'period of silence.' During this time, he chose to create with monochromatic tones of black, white, and gray, as if transforming all the clamor of color into contemplation. The works from this period demonstrate an almost ascetic artistic practice - in the absence of color, the artist paradoxically found a more pure form of expression.

然而，一次喜馬拉雅之旅徹底改變了這種狀態。在那片離天最近的土地上，某種蟄伏已久的能量被徹底喚醒。迷幻而狂放的螢光色彩，如同解凍的春潮，以不可阻擋之勢湧入他的畫布，自此，他的作品也猶如春雷聲響，敲醒了市場對他的關注。2021年其作品《七寶松樹》在佳士得拍賣會上拍出含佣金6,483萬港幣（約台幣2.69億元）的驚人價格，2022年《樂園》又以含佣金1,610萬人民幣（約台幣7,216萬元）成交，奠定了他在當代藝術市場的重要地位。

However, a journey to the Himalayas completely transformed this state. On that land closest to the heavens, a long-dormant energy was fully awakened. Psychedelic and unbridled fluorescent colors, like a thawing spring tide, surged into his canvases with unstoppable force. From then on, his works, like spring thunder, awakened market attention. In 2021, his work 'Seven Treasure Pine Tree' achieved an astonishing HKD 64.83 million (approximately TWD 269 million) including buyer's premium at Christie's auction. In 2022, 'Paradise' sold for RMB 16.1 million (approximately TWD 72.16 million) including buyer's premium, cementing his significant position in the contemporary art market.

After truly entering the market arena, Huang Yuxing's most notable crossover collaboration has been with SHANG XIA, a furniture brand known as the 'Hermès of the East,' creating a limited-edition collection together. The brand, established by designer Jiang Qiong'er, has always been dedicated to finding a balance between tradition and modernity, East and West. In this collaboration, Huang Yuxing's signature works were ingeniously transformed into a series of refined lifestyle products, demonstrating a perfect fusion of art and daily life.

In the carbon fiber screen series of Huang Yuxing x SHANG XIA, Huang selected works from his different periods as the main themes. The six-panel screen 'Nine Dragons' transforms dragons into nine pine trees that connect heaven and earth, symbolizing the passage of time. 'Such a Lovely Land' reconstructs Wang Ximeng's 'A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains' using fluorescent tones to showcase the grandeur of Eastern landscapes. The four-panel screen 'Red River' depicts flowing water, reflecting on time and life, while the two-panel screen 'Chinese Landscape' reimagines traditional landscape painting with fantastical colors in a surrealist style. Each piece perfectly demonstrates the fusion of tradition and innovation.

今年(2024)年底，黃宇興的藝術實踐又有了新的突破。他與全球知名潮玩品牌POPMART泡泡馬特合作，推出了《Mega Royal Molly 黃宇興-氣泡》系列。這次合作以「生命不息」為主題，推出了400%（38cm）和1000%（90cm）兩種規格的限定版公仔。在這些充滿童趣的形象中，我們彷彿仍然能看到黃宇興對生命本質的思考，只是以一種更親民的方式呈現。

At the end of 2024, Huang Yuxing's artistic practice achieved another breakthrough. He collaborated with globally renowned designer toy brand POPMART to launch the 'Mega Royal Molly by Huang Yuxing - Bubbles' series. This collaboration, themed 'Life Never Ceases,' features limited-edition figurines in two sizes: 400% (38cm) and 1000% (90cm). In these playful figures, we can still glimpse Huang Yuxing's contemplation of life's essence, just presented in a more accessible way.

此外，值得一提的是，2023年，周杰倫在佳士得香港秋拍擔任策展人時，也特別挑選了他的作品《降落在兒時夢想的彼岸》，圖中有容易讓人聯想到童年的摩天輪、彩虹元素，也有閃爍的光點點綴，像是夢境，也猶如童話。

Additionally, it's worth noting that in 2023, when Jay Chou served as curator for Christie's Hong Kong Fall Auction, he specifically selected Huang's work 'Landing on the Other Shore of Childhood Dreams.' The painting features elements reminiscent of childhood such as a Ferris wheel and rainbows, along with twinkling lights as embellishments, appearing both dreamlike and fairy tale-like.
