—Artificial intelligence will be a major focus at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe 2026, held on 5–6 May in Amsterdam. A new AI Innovation Hub will give visitors an interactive look at how AI is changing plastics recycling, from product design and waste collection to sorting and material reuse.
One main attraction is Antfarm’s swarm robots. Their Swarm Alpha system uses several robots working together to sort items like bottles and cans. Antfarm will also introduce Swarm Beta, a faster system that can sort up to ten times more material by letting robots pick objects and store them in their own bins. Visitors will see live data on screens showing sorting speed, material types, and recycling value.
Another highlight comes from Safi, which will demonstrate an AI tool that works on a smartphone. Attendees can try the app themselves by scanning recycled plastic bales and watching the AI analyze materials in real time.
These examples show how AI is helping the recycling industry work more accurately and efficiently, while reducing manual labor and environmental impact. Registration for the event is free until 5 April 2026, making it a great opportunity to explore the future of plastics recycling.
