Synopsis
Chinese title “Tzuo Kung”, meaning an action(Silk Road Journey) opening up an uncultivated land back to Chinese history, B.C. 200; and it also means excavation, to dig out what is buried or inside.
video camera follows along the metro construction site to write the Taipei city scenery, fences front the sites keep moving around, traffic then have their detour. The constructions are destroyed, then new construction, all is for pursuit for speed, chasing after being within globalization, the future of the city is decided. However, in this rapid replacing process, people, events, materials confrontation on streets are soon out of focus, everything is becoming into background, what is left only the will of this city, and its persistence on changing, only “Detour” signs left on fences sprawling there and everywhere.
Director’s Statement
Within filmmaking, I found my video camera constructing a railway to interpenetrate everything, the order of time and space is erased and reset; however, where could a video camera lead us to, or we who being in turbulence are still gonna be thrown away?

「鑿空」是漢朝張騫通西域事件,而「空」即「孔」,意思就是開闢孔道。另外鑿空也有挖空事物內部的意思。
本片以施工中的捷運、城市的上、中、下各層道路,來觀察與探索城市更新過程中的各種演變。不斷地在追求速度、更快捷地建設,城市也以更快的速度拋棄過去,在追求未來的過程中,工地、大樓、事件、人物、遊行、衝突一切的一切都將成過去,會不會一切只是佈景迅速地更替,迅速地被遺忘。
導演的話
攝影機是一把鑿子,企圖把那些新興交通動線工程給鎖死的緊張生活動線中解放開來,讓眼睛重新透透氣、重新獲致新的觀看。
