Gmail、YouTube皆中斷
英國「每日郵報」報導，Google搜尋引擎、電子信箱Gmail、影音分享網站YouTube及雲端硬碟Google Drive等一系列服務，16日下午中斷1至5分鐘。據網路分析公司GoSquared調查，Google當機期間全球網路流量銳減約4成，反映Google在網路世界的驚人影響力，網友極為依賴Google。
當機期間，Google在用戶數據紀錄服務Dashboard發佈訊息，公布Gmail使用者登入帳戶有問題，受到影響的用戶仍可登入，但可能會「出現無預警的狀況」。稍晚訊息顯示，太平洋夏令時間15點51分到15點52分，使用者向Google傳送的要求有5到7成發生錯誤，服務在1分鐘後大部分恢復，全部服務在4分鐘後正常。
專家蘇利文（Danny Sullivan）表示，這種所有服務同時當機的情況非常罕見，今年4月Gmail也曾當機，但當時Google網站主頁並未受影響。若以Google第二季營收141億美元估算，每分鐘營收約10.8萬美元，當機5分鐘的損失高達54.5萬美元。
