大埔水庫(峨眉湖)是台灣第一個自行設計興建的水庫,仍保有灌溉及工業用水功能,同時有景色優美的環湖步道。Dapu Reservoir is the 1st Taiwanese self-design and built reservoir, it is also known as"Lake of Emei."
Emei township, located in the southern hills of Hsinchu County. The land was alluvial by rivers and the shape is like a crescent moon. Yuemei means "Eyebrow of Moon"was named. During Japanese period, it changes to Emei according to its hills geographical feature.
Here is a reservoir "Da Pu", which is the first Taiwanese self-design and built reservoir and completed in 1960, it is so called "Lake of Emei". The reservoir was mainly supplying the farming and industrial watering of Siangshan, Paoshan, Chunan and Toufen.
The 8km Lakeside trial is currently under construction and estimated to completed in End of 2024. Nevertheless, tourist still can walk around the partial lakeside trial to enjoy the stunning landscape. People come to visit golden Rosy Trumpet Tree in March, Whitening Tung flowers in April and Purple Water Hyacinth in May, there is maple scenery in Fall and birds watching in Winters.
It is recommended to take the Green Eletrci Boat for a 30 mins guided tour on the lake. There is no petrol smelling and it is a relax and calm experience. The captain is also the tour guide who will take you into an amazing lake world to appreciate the beauty of Emei in different angles.
Take the Hsinchu Bus#5609 from Zhudong train station and take off at Emei Lake bus stop.
By Car: Google "Emei parking lot" and entry is just beside the parking, however the space is limited. Parking near "FuSing Elementary school" is also a good option and it is only about 5 mins walking distance to the Ximaopu Suspension Bridge.
