Are people perfect? Still not perfect? Is it good or evil?

The debate of whether people are genuinely good or evil has been an ethical discussion for years. It is a complicated issue that lacks a definite answer. While some contend that people have a compulsion for good or evil, I consider that the nature of individuals is affected by the situations they encounter, in other words, it depends on the circumstances that individuals face.

For example, a video about how the wealthy fight for 90 days from nothing. That means the struggles of the affluent who are challenged to survive for 90 days without their usual privileges might be significant challenges. When individuals lack basic needs, such as food or security, they may resort to fraud and violence to satisfy their immediate requirements. It is crucial to note that these actions do not necessarily have inherent evilness in these individuals. Instead, they are driven to desperate acts due to the severity of their circumstances. It is important to acknowledge that even those who engage in immoral behavior are often victims of their circumstances, rather than solely being inherently malevolent beings.

Another instance is children. Having worked as a tutor for several years, I have encountered various situations. One who grows up in a caring family, and another who experiences an abusive environment. The child from the loving family, immersed in an atmosphere of affection and support, develops into an empathetic individual. While the child who was raised in an abusive family might come up with anger issues commonly associated with violence. This demonstrates the influence of circumstances on shaping an individual's moral character.

As we take into consideration an individual residing in a poverty neighborhood, where employment opportunities are scarce, and access to education is limited. They must face the challenge of providing for their family's basic needs and striving for a better life, and they may find themselves resorting to illegal activities, such as drug trafficking. While these actions may be morally blamed, it is essential to acknowledge the underlying socioeconomic factors that have forced them into such circumstances.

From my perspective, People are not perfect, but I always believe that human nature is good. The acquisition of power and authority holds significant parts over an individual's morals. As we take observations through all history, numerous examples abound of individuals who bestowed with unknown power as well as have surrendered to corrupt. When individuals find themselves in positions of authority, they frequently encounter moral dilemmas that can affect their decision-making and actions. In conclusion, this highlights the importance of recognizing the impact of circumstances and environment diversifies in understanding the complexities of human morality.
