Strength

Strength

Tarot for Today, June 14, 2024: Strength

Yesterday was yet another day full of frustrations. Despite putting in countless hours of study and practice, it felt as though my memory only lasted for the day. When it came time to use that knowledge, my mind went blank.

Once again, I completed a project that wasn’t entirely my own work. The teacher smiled wryly, and I responded with a smile that conveyed my sense of powerlessness.

I truly am studying diligently. But I just can’t seem to remember. Now, even when I look back at my notes, it feels like I’m reading a foreign language or some incomprehensible text. No matter how many times I review them, they fail to jog any memories. The teacher asked me, “Did you return everything to me?” I awkwardly replied, “It’s yours. I never took it.” The classmates around us burst into laughter.

I felt distressed, powerless, and sad, unable to overcome these feelings. This technique of altering computer layers is beyond my grasp. I told my classmates that I find AI-generated text-to-image more suitable for me. One classmate agreed, joking that I’m better at giving orders and finding skilled people to execute them.

It turns out, my harmony today is about making peace with my limitations. In the end, I had to give up on the concept of layers that I simply couldn’t master.

When I submitted the project, the teacher said, “This work is beautiful. He did it.”

I replied, “Yes, it’s truly beautiful. I thought of it.”

    We collaborated seamlessly.

As I’ve often said lately, “I have many ideas, but I just can’t execute them.”

Fortunately, I have one advantage: I know how to ask for help, accept my limitations frankly, and sincerely request assistance and guidance from others.

This situation, I believe, also resonates with today’s tarot card, Strength.

We often think that strength resides within our bodies, muscles, and willpower. Through this learning experience, I’ve come to understand that strength doesn’t have to be masculine or feminine, and it doesn’t always come from within ourselves.

Strength can also come from others. As long as we can seek help and sincerely request assistance from others. Different strengths can come together, forming a collective that not only manifests the power of unity but also the energy of shared goals.

In the imagery of the Strength card, there is an assistant priest who carries and balances a curved jade stone on their shoulders and head. Inside the jade stone is an egg that seems like it could roll out at any moment. If the balance is lost, if full concentration is not maintained, the egg can easily fall.

    What does this egg symbolize?

It represents the things we cherish and hold dear in our hearts.

For some, it’s reputation; for others, family and children; for some, it’s principles in life and work; and for others, it’s the ever-increasing balance in their bank accounts. When we recognize what we cherish, we are more dedicated to protecting, maintaining, and sometimes even fighting for it.

To preserve what we love and stand for, we need strength. The adjective for strength is powerful. Powerful strength helps us protect and obtain what we desire.

To possess strength, we need to put in a lot of effort. In a group, the leader, the commander, possesses strength. Once we have strength, we must continue to adhere to our principles and never forget our original intentions. Strength, if not used carefully, can hurt others, mislead oneself, and cause harm, so we must be cautious.

In our ordinary lives, strength is sparked by being needed.

    Strength arises from being loved.

Strength grows from having something to hold on to.

Strength is sought after in loss.

Because of strength, we can protect. Because of strength, we can shine.

Because of strength, we can be free.

Because of strength, we can control.

What wants to slip away, what is unwilling to stay, if we grasp it tightly and refuse to let go, that’s not strength; it’s brute force, it’s violence.

Gentle strength can touch hearts, build trust, and foster genuine connections and true kindness.
