Xiao Ming: Important points need to be reiterated(反覆講) thrice!

Xiao Mei: Alright, alright! No need to get upset. Seriously, you have a short fuse.

Xiao Ming: It's not about me having a short fuse; it's just that you clearly didn't pay proper attention to what I was saying!

Xiao Mei: Fine! I apologize.

Xiao Ming: An apology that lacks sincerity doesn't really count.

Xiao Mei: Um... let's get back to the lesson, shall we?

Xiao Ming: Next, ponder over the article's structure. Main idea → examples → conclusion. Or consider the context of the article and whether there's anything else worth adding.

Xiao Ming: Jot down your thoughts and if you stumble upon unfamiliar words, make sure to look them up in the dictionary.

Xiao Mei: Got it.

Xiao Ming: And remember, always refer to example sentences to avoid using words incorrectly. Because often, Chinese and English words don't have a perfect one-to-one match. Different contexts call for different word choices.

Today, I had a rendezvous(約會) with Xiao Mei, and I couldn't be happier. Despite our differing viewpoints and distinct study habits and thinking patterns, I've learned to approach things from diverse angles. Many notions that seemed self-evident to me turned out to be anything but.

小美：「小明，你平常校排都那麼前面。教一下讀書訣竅吧！」

小明：「這簡單啊。你就讀完這篇英文雜誌，然後總結+說明。」

小美：「什麼意思？」

小明：「你先聽完這篇英文雜誌。」

小美：「好。」

過了十分鐘

小明：「你現在用3句以內的中文總結這篇文章。」

小美：「ok，這篇文章是在講環保愛地球」

小明：「好，然後用英文總結。」

小美：「The article is about environmental protection and loving the earth.」

小明：「接著用中文說明這篇文章。」

小美：「ok，這篇文章是在講環保愛地球」

小明：「是說明拉！不是總結。」(生氣)

小明：「請用15句以上中文說明，然後再用15句以上英文說明。」

小明：「是說明！是說明！是說明！不是總結了。」

小明：「重要的話要講三遍！」

小美：「好啦好啦！不要生氣。你這人真的很容易生氣ㄟ」

小明：「哪是我容易生氣，明明就是你沒認真聽我說話！」

小美：「好吧！我道歉。」

小明：「道歉還要好吧，真超沒誠意。」

小美：「ㄜ....繼續教學拉。」

小明：「然後想一下文章結構。主旨→例子→結論。或是想一下這篇文章的背景是什麼，有沒有其他要補充的。」

小明：「把想到的東西先寫下來，有不會的單字記得查一下字典。」

小美：「好的。」

小明：「記得一定要看例句，才不會用錯。因為很多時候，中英文是沒有一個剛剛好的對應字。在不同情境要用不同字。」

小美：「沒問題。」

今天和小美去約會，我很高興。雖然我們有許多觀念不一樣，讀書習慣和思考模式也不一樣。但我也學會用不同視角去看事情，很多我覺得理所當然的事情並不「理所當然。」
