Otter!
Even if I had a bad day, it wouldn't matter, because I come home to see you.
When I first met you, I found you very honest, confident, funny and comfortable within yourself. I also liked the way you would fix your bag on your shoulder and how you would cross the road.
Only the best quality salmon for you.
(Everyone was) looking at you with a big smile on their faces, because you light up the room.
I miss you and I really want to kiss you now.
I love this night cream because it reminds me of you.
Seeing your things in my room makes me happy.
Here are some of the sweetest things my British boyfriend has ever said to me — little moments that still make my heart melt to this day
Scenario 1:
He’d just finished a long shift and walked home in the rain. He came through the door looking exhausted. I was in the kitchen making dinner, and the moment he saw me he said: “Even if I’d had a bad day, it wouldn’t matter — because I come home to see you.”
Scenario 2:
We were once talking about our first impressions of each other, and why we liked one another. This was his answer: “When I first met you, I found you very honest, confident, funny, and comfortable within yourself. I also liked the way you’d fix your bag on your shoulder… and even the way you crossed the road.”
Scenario 3:
We were doing our weekly shop in Waitrose, and he knows I love salmon. He picked up the fancy, top-quality one and dropped it into the trolley, saying casually: “Only the best quality salmon for you.”
It was just a piece of salmon, but that sentence summed up how he treats me — like I deserve the best even in the small things.
Scenario 4:
On the day of my master’s graduation, after dinner with friends, we were in the Uber heading home when he suddenly said: “When you put on your gown, everyone was looking at you with a big smile… because you light up the room.”
Scenario 5:
When I went back to Taiwan for a few weeks, we were doing long-distance video calls. One night he said: “I miss you, and I really want to kiss you right now.”
Scenario 6:
Before bed, he opened my night cream, sniffed it, and put it back. I asked him why he always smelled my stuff and he said: “I love this night cream because it reminds me of you.”
Scenario 7:
Our main bedroom wardrobe has six doors. When I first moved here from Taiwan, he said he’d emptied four sections for me. He even told me I could use the leftover space in his two if I needed more. I asked, “All that space just for me? Won’t that be unfair to you?” He smiled and said: “Seeing your things in my room makes me happy.”
