Flying from Singapore to Japan is really far, so much farther than before in Taiwan where it used to be like a backyard and only took 3 hours. Now it takes 7 to 8 hours, really far. Because direct flights are too expensive, I chose Korean Air with a layover in South Korea. I can only say that Incheon Airport's second terminal is just so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so boring.
In a daze, I arrived at New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido. It's really the first time I've set foot in Japan since the pandemic, and it feels great. As soon as I got to Japan, everything looked so delicious and worth buying, so I brought a super large suitcase to go on a shopping spree. Because I had to travel from Sapporo to Hakodate, it takes about four hours just on the Shinkansen, so I couldn't waste any time and rushed to the JR counter to buy a ticket. The lady at the counter was very kind and helped me calculate whether it's cheaper to buy a pass or individual tickets for the various places I wanted to visit in Hokkaido. The conclusion was to get a pass. Then, she told me to quickly rush to the platform to catch a train to Minami-Chitose to make my connection, so I sprinted.
Here's the crucial part: When I boarded the train bound for Hakodate, I realized there was no dining car or vending machine on the train!!! I thought there would be something to buy for food, so I didn't go on a shopping spree at the convenience store. I didn't even have water, so I had a really challenging time on the train.
This time stay in Toyoko inn, still clean and comfortable.
On the first day, I rushed to Mount Hakodate to see the night view. I didn’t expect that the mountain would be so popular and so crowded. I was afraid that there would be no seats when I went down the mountain, so I had to quickly watch the night view before the bus left and then queue up.
In the morning in Hokkaido, I wanted to go to Hakodate Market to eat seafood rice bowl, so I went to the morning market next to the station, walked around and found a restaurant with people queuing up, so I went in to eat. It was really super delicious, and the seafood was so fresh~ I also had a sea urchin steamed egg.
In addition, this watermelon is really delicious and speechless! !
Then I saw a Taiwan-Japan friendly fruit stall, so I bought a box of strawberries.
After eating, I went to Goryokaku Park for a stroll.
Then we went to the Jinsen Red Brick Restaurant for a walk.
At noon, I ran to Ritai Gorge and found out that the poet Ishikawa Takuboku was buried here. I bought chicken skewers at 7-11 and enjoyed my lunch at the beach.
In the afternoon, I went to Yunokawa to soak in the free footbath, which was really comfortable.
Finally, I had to take a train to Sapporo, so I bought Hakodate’s famous Lucky Clown Burger for dinner.
I mean, at first I thought it was just a burger and maybe nothing special, but I didn’t expect it to taste really good ~ the sauce is really good! Then serve it with bread and meat. Sure enough, it is still famous!
Finally, we got on the train that didn’t sell anything. I was so safe and experienced, so I bought a bunch of stuff to eat on the bus this time~~
