Isaac and the Time-Traveling Shoes
One rainy afternoon, Isaac was cleaning the attic with his grandpa. Behind an old chest, he spotted a dusty shoebox. Inside was a pair of shiny red sneakers.
“They were your great-grandfather’s,” Grandpa said. “Some say... they’re magical.”
Isaac laughed. But when he tried them on, the attic began to spin. A flash of blue light surrounded him—and suddenly, he wasn’t in the attic anymore.
He stood in the middle of a cobblestone street, surrounded by people in old-fashioned clothes. A boy nearby was selling newspapers. A girl was feeding a horse. Isaac realized he had traveled back in time—to the year 1923!
At first, he was excited. He explored a bakery, watched a street magician, and even helped carry groceries for a kind old lady. But then, he saw something wrong—a group of kids were teasing a smaller boy and trying to steal his lunch.
Isaac stepped in. “Hey! Leave him alone.”
The bullies stared. “Who are you?”
“I’m someone who knows better,” Isaac said firmly.
They left, grumbling. The little boy smiled. “Thanks, mister.”
Just then, the shoes started to glow again. Whoosh! In a blink, Isaac was back in the attic.
He looked at his grandpa and smiled. “Those shoes... they really are something.”
Grandpa chuckled. “What did I tell you?”
