31 years agon on June 4th, a group of Chinese students who loved their own country lost their lives. We will never forget what they have done, and they will always be remembered throughout history. That year, I had just graduated from high school. I can't help but remember that terrible night. I stared at the news every day following the massacre. All I could do was stare and cry. Later, my classmates took me to the coast to send balloons toward the mainland. I'm really proud of the bravery of those student patriots who loved their country so much. Although their seeds of passion sprouted as a result of the educational ideals they learned from European and American countries, the protest was their choice.
The biggest tragedy were the many lives this battle caused to be lost. Everyone saw the tanks driving toward the students. Some say 200 died. At least, that was the official statement of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The student-movement leader said at least 2000 people died. Clearly, such a tragedy warrants there should be no activities in the country on June 4th. The rifle may have the power of forced fear, but it can never dominate the world. National rejuvenation depends on the people, not on an army.
In Hong Kong, "Democratic Songs Dedicated to China" are precisely the emotions of the June 4th movement. But what about today and the anti-send campaign? These star artists are on the same side as the Chinese Communist Party, and are working for their own benefit. For example, in 1989, Jackie Chan said that he would not bow to democracy by performing his music, and now he is calling for the recruitment of Ting Guo An Law. The same is true of others. Where is the humanity?!
In today's June 4th George Floyd incident, I don’t believe it was the fault of the United States’ President. But now, the most internationally controversial issue is whether President Trump should send an army to suppress the people. Most states did not follow through on President Trump’s threat. If he were to dispatch an army made up of the international community to China, the Chinese Communist Party would not dare to suppress the people! Of course, this matter is also a test of the president's future presidential election polls. So, I believe the President of the United States does not have pure intention.
At the time of June 4th, in my young mind, Woolkai was my favorite star because he was so handsome. My classmates liked Wang Dan because of his ideology. Today, 31 years later, Wang Dan has become an inspirational, ideological writer whom I have come to admire greatly.
Today and always, let’s never forget the tragedy that happened on June 4th.
