Commuting in Taiwan's North and South: Taipei vs. Kaohsiung
While both Taipei and Kaohsiung are major urban centers in Taiwan, their commuting landscapes differ significantly. Taipei, the capital, boasts a comprehensive and efficient public transportation system. The city's extensive MRT network, complemented by a vast bus system, forms the backbone of daily commutes. Consequently, a substantial portion of Taipei's workforce relies on these options, often combining them for door-to-door journeys.
In contrast, Kaohsiung, despite recent infrastructural developments, still sees a higher dependence on private vehicles. The city's MRT system, while growing, is less extensive than Taipei's. This limitation, coupled with Kaohsiung's more spread-out urban planning, has resulted in a greater prevalence of scooters and cars among commuters.
