巴黎：法國核子保護監督組織（nuclear protection watchdog）週二說，不能排除中國地震對於接近震央核子設施之潛在損害。

但是，輻射保護與核子安全研究所（he Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety）更確認中國其他四座核子發點場的安全，因為都位於距離地震震央1000公里以外。

研究所聲明中指出：「可能這些核子反應爐並未受顯著的損害」，並認為需要由中國主管當局作進一步檢查來確認。四座電廠多座落在中國東部。

聲明建議，較為緊急的憂心是在規模7.9地震中死亡12000人狀況下，其他核電廠如四川省研究用核子爐或使用核子原料人員。

研究所並未說明到底有多少核子設施在這區域，但指出「有一些」位於震央100公里之內。

PARIS: France 's nuclear protection watchdog said Tuesday that it could not exclude potential damage to nuclear facilities near the epicenter of the devastating earthquake in  China .

However, the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety was more reassuring about China 's four nuclear sites producing electricity because all are located more than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from the quake's epicenter.

"It is probable that these reactors suffered no notable damage," the institute said in a statement, adding that confirmation was needed following inspections requested by Chinese authorities. The four electricity-producing sites, Lingao, Daya Bay , Qinshan and Tianwan, are all located in eastern  China .

More immediately worrisome, the statement suggested, were other nuclear facilities such as research reactors or those used to produce fuel in the province of Sichuan where the magnitude 7.9 quake left more than 12,000 dead.

The institute did not say how many nuclear facilities were located in the region, but said that "some" were less than 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the epicenter.
