Jane smiled knowingly and led him to a corner where the sunbeams fought through the gloom to illuminate a small, plain box. “This,” she said, “holds the courage you seek, but it cannot be bought with coins or gold. It asks for a trade—the courage to face your fears in exchange for the strength to overcome them.”
The boy, understanding the price, nodded solemnly. He took the box and felt a warmth spread through him. With a grateful heart, he left Jane’s shop, not with an object, but with a newfound strength resonating within his spirit.
As the door closed behind him, Jane whispered to the vanishing mist, “Another soul learns that what they seek is already within them.” And with that, she turned back to her emporium, ready to guide the next seeker on their journey.
