But when Titty went to put hers in, the pot tumbled over, and scalded her to death, and Tatty sat down and wept.

Then the three-legged stool said, "Tatty, why do you weep?"
"Titty's dead," said Tatty, "and so I weep."

「Thí-thih死--去-ah，」Thá-thih koh ìn講：「所以我leh哭。」
Koh lâi saⁿ-kha-í-á to̍h mn̄g kóng: “Thá-thih, lí sī án-chóaⁿ leh khàu?”
“Thí-thih sí--khì-ah,” Thá-thih koh ìn kóng: “Só͘-í góa leh khàu.”
"Then," said the stool, "I'll hop," so the stool hopped.
「Án-ne，」三脚椅á講：「我to̍h beh跳，」三脚椅á chŏaⁿ開始跳。
“Án-ne,” saⁿ-kha-í-á kóng: “góa to̍h beh thiàu,” saⁿ-kha-í-á chŏaⁿ khai-sí thiàu.
Then a broom in the corner of the room said, "Stool, why do you hop?"
Koh來tī房間ê角--á有1支掃帚問講：「三脚椅á，你是án-chóaⁿ leh跳？」
Koh lâi tī pâng-keng ê kak--á ū 1 ki sàu-chhiú mn̄g kóng: “Saⁿ-kha-í-á, lí sī án-chóaⁿ leh thiàu?”
"Oh!" said the stool, "Titty's dead, and Tatty weeps, and so I hop."
"Then," said the broom, "I'll sweep," so the broom began to sweep.
「喔！」三脚椅á ìn講：「Thí-thih死--去-ah，Thá-thih leh哭，所以我to̍h開始跳。 」
「Án-ne，」掃帚講：「我to̍h beh掃，」掃帚chŏaⁿ開始掃。
“O͘h!” Saⁿ-kha-í-á ìn kóng: “Thí-thih sí--khì-ah, Thá-thih leh khàu, só͘-í góa to̍h khai-sí thiàu.”
“Án-ne,” sàu-chhiú kóng: “Góa to̍h beh sàu,” sàu-chhiú chŏaⁿ khai-sí sàu.
Then said the door, "Broom, why do you sweep?"
"Oh!" said the broom, "Titty's dead, and Tatty weeps, and the stool hops, and so I sweep."

「喔！」掃帚ìn講：「Thí-thih死--去-ah，Thá-thih leh哭，三脚椅á leh跳，所以我to̍h開始掃。 」
Koh lâi mn̂g to̍h mn̄g kóng: “Sàu-chhiú, lí sī án-chóaⁿ leh sàu?”
“O͘h!” Sàu-chhiú ìn kóng: “Thí-thih sí-khì--ah, Thá-thih leh khàu, saⁿ-kha-í-á leh thiàu, só͘-í góa to̍h khai-sí sàu.”
"Then," said the door, "I'll jar," so the door jarred.
「Án-ne，」門講：「我to̍h beh īⁿ-oāiⁿ叫，」門chŏaⁿ開始īⁿ-oāiⁿ叫。
“Án-ne,” mn̂g kóng: “Góa to̍h beh īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò,” mn̂g chŏaⁿ khai-sí īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò.
Then the window said, "Door, why do you jar?"

Koh lâi thang-á to̍h mn̄g kóng: “Mn̂g, lí sī án-chóaⁿ leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò?”
"Oh!" said the door, "Titty's dead, and Tatty weeps, and the stool hops, and the broom sweeps, and so I jar."
"Then," said the window, "I'll creak," so the window creaked.
「喔！」門ìn講：「Thí-thih死--去-ah，Thá-thih leh哭，三脚椅á leh跳，掃帚leh掃，所以我to̍h īⁿ-oāiⁿ叫。 」
「Án-ne，」窗á講：「我to̍h beh khi̍h-kho̍k叫，」窗á chŏaⁿ開始khi̍h-kho̍k叫。
“O͘h!” Mn̂g ìn kóng: “Thí-thih sí--khì-ah, Thá-thih leh khàu, saⁿ-kha-í-á leh thiàu, sàu-chhiú leh sàu, só͘-í góa to̍h īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò.”
“Án-ne,” thang-á kóng: “Góa to̍h beh khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò,” thang-á chŏaⁿ khai-sí khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò.
Now there was an old form outside the house, and when the window creaked, the form said, "Window, why do you creak?"
Chit-chūn厝外口有1隻舊椅liâu，tī窗á teh khi̍h-kho̍k叫 ê時，椅liâu問講：「窗á，你是án-chóaⁿ leh khi̍h-kho̍k叫？」
Chit-chūn chhù gōa-kháu ū 1 chiah kū í-liâu, tī thang-á teh khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò ê sî, í-liâu mn̄g kóng: “Thang-á, lí sī án-chóaⁿ leh khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò?”
"Oh!" said the window, "Titty's dead, and Tatty weeps, and the stool hops, and the broom sweeps, the door jars, and so I creak!"
"Then," said the old form, "I'll gallop round the house." So the old form galloped round the house.
「喔！」窗á ìn講：「Thí-thih死--去-ah，Thá-thih leh哭，三脚椅á leh跳，掃帚leh掃，門leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ叫，所以我to̍h khi̍h-kho̍k叫。 」
「Án-ne，」舊椅liâu講：「我to̍h beh se̍h chit間厝kho̍k-kho̍k-chông，」舊椅liâu chŏaⁿ開始se̍h厝kho̍k-kho̍k-chông。
“O͘h!” Thang-á ìn kóng: “Thí-thih sí-khì--ah, Thá-thih leh khàu, saⁿ-kha-í-á leh thiàu, sàu-chhiú leh sàu, mn̂g leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò, só͘-í góa to̍h khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò.”
“Án-ne,” kū í-liâu kóng: “góa to̍h beh se̍h chit keng chhù kho̍k-kho̍k-chông,” kū í-liâu chŏaⁿ khai-sí se̍h chhù kho̍k-kho̍k-chông.
Now there was a fine large walnut tree growing by the cottage, and the tree said to the form, "Form, why do you gallop round the house?"
厝邊--á有1叢生tio̍h真將才ê大胡桃樹，胡桃樹對椅liâu講：「椅liâu，你是án-chóaⁿ leh se̍h chit間厝kho̍k-kho̍k-chông？」
Chhù piⁿ--á ū 1 châng seⁿ tio̍h chin chiòng-châi ê tōa ô͘-thô-chhiū, ô͘-thô-chhiū tùi í-liâu kóng: “Í-liâu, lí sī án-chóaⁿ leh se̍h chit keng chhù kho̍k-kho̍k-chông?”
"Oh!" says the form, "Titty's dead, and Tatty weeps, and the stool hops, and the broom sweeps, the door jars, and the window creaks, and so I gallop round the house."
"Then," said the walnut tree, "I'll shed my leaves." So the walnut tree shed all its beautiful green leaves.
「喔！」椅liâu ìn講：「Thí-thih死--去-ah，Thá-thih leh哭，三脚椅á leh跳，掃帚leh掃，門leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ叫，窗á leh khi̍h-kho̍k叫，所以我to̍h se̍h厝kho̍k-kho̍k-chông。 」
「Án-ne，」胡桃樹講：「我to̍h beh lak葉á，」胡桃樹chŏaⁿ開始hō͘伊美麗青leng ê葉á lóng總lak--落-來。
“O͘h!” Í-liâu ìn kóng: “Thí-thih sí--khì-ah, Thá-thih leh khàu, saⁿ-kha-í-á leh thiàu, sàu-chhiú leh sàu, mn̂g leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò, thang-á leh khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò, só͘-í góa to̍h se̍h chhù kho̍k-kho̍k-chông.”
“Án-ne,” ô͘-thô-chhiū kóng: “góa to̍h beh lak hio̍h-á,” ô͘-thô-chhiū chŏaⁿ khai-sí hō͘ i bí-lē chheⁿ-leng ê hio̍h-á lóng-chóng lak--lo̍h-lâi.
Now there was a little bird perched on one of the boughs of the tree, and when all the leaves fell, it said, "Walnut tree, why do you shed your leaves?"
有1隻細隻鳥á hioh tī胡桃樹ê 1枝樹oe頂koân，tī所有ê葉á lóng lak--落-來ê時，伊問講：「胡桃樹，你是án-chóaⁿ beh hō͘你ê葉á lak--落-來？」
Ū 1 chiah sè-chiah chiáu-á hioh tī ô͘-thô-chhiū ê 1 ki chhiū-oe téng-koân, tī só͘-ū ê hio̍h-á lóng lak--lo̍h-lâi ê sî, i mn̄g kóng: “Ô͘-thô-chhiū, lí sī án-chóaⁿ beh hō͘ lí ê hio̍h-á lak--lo̍h-lâi?”
"Oh!" said the tree, "Titty's dead, and Tatty weeps, the stool hops, and the broom sweeps, the door jars, and the window creaks, the old form gallops round the house, and so I shed my leaves."
"Then," said the little bird, "I'll moult all my feathers," so he moulted all his gay feathers.
「喔！」胡桃樹ìn講：「Thí-thih死--去-ah，Thá-thih leh哭，三脚椅á leh跳，掃帚leh掃，門leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ叫，窗á leh khi̍h-kho̍k叫，舊椅liâu leh se̍h厝間kho̍k-kho̍k-chông，所以我hō͘我ê葉á lak--落-來。 」
「Án-ne，」細隻鳥á講：「我to̍h beh kā我ê毛草thǹg--落-來，」細隻鳥á chŏaⁿ開始kā伊花血ê毛草lóng總thǹg--落-來。
“O͘h!” Ô͘-thô-chhiū ìn kóng: “Thí-thih sí--khì-ah, Thá-thih leh khàu, saⁿ-kha-í-á leh thiàu, sàu-chhiú leh sàu, mn̂g leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò, thang-á leh khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò, kū í-liâu leh se̍h chhù-keng kho̍k-kho̍k-chông, só͘-í góa hō͘ góa ê hio̍h-á lak--lo̍h-lâi.”
“Án-ne,” sè-chiah chiáu-á kóng: “góa to̍h beh kā góa ê mn̂g-chháu thǹg--lo̍h-lâi,” sè-chiah chiáu-á chŏaⁿ khai-sí kā i hoe-hiat ê mn̂g-chháu lóng-chóng thǹg--lo̍h-lâi.
Now there was a little girl walking below, carrying a jug of milk for her brothers' and sisters' supper, and when she saw the poor little bird moult all its feathers, she said, "Little bird, why do you moult all your feathers?"
有1 ê細漢chŏ͘-gín-á ùi ē脚行--過，手--ni̍h kōaⁿ 1罐牛奶，是暗頓beh hō͘ in小弟小妹lim--ê，伊去看tio̍h hit隻苦憐ê細隻鳥á kā伊ka-tī ê毛草lóng總thǹg--落-來ê時，伊講：「細隻鳥á，你是án-chóaⁿ beh kā ka-tī ê毛草lóng總thǹg--落-來？」
Ū 1 ê sè-hàn chŏ͘-gín-á ùi ē-kha kiâⁿ--kòe, chhiú--ni̍h kōaⁿ 1 koàn gû-leng, sī àm-tǹg beh hō͘ in sió-tī sió-mōe lim--ê, i khì khòaⁿ tio̍h hit chiah khó͘-liân ê sè-chiah chiáu-á kā i ka-tī ê mn̂g-chháu lóng-chóng thǹg--lo̍h-lâi ê sî, i kóng: “Sè-chiah chiáu-á, lí sī án-chóaⁿ beh kā ka-tī ê mn̂g-chháu lóng-chóng thǹg--lo̍h-lâi?”
"Oh!" said the little bird, "Titty's dead, and Tatty weeps, the stool hops, and the broom sweeps, the door jars, and the window creaks, the old form gallops round the house, the walnut tree sheds its leaves, and so I moult all my feathers."
"Then," said the little girl, "I'll spill the milk." So she dropt the pitcher and spilt the milk.
「喔！」細隻鳥á ìn講：「Thí-thih死--去-ah，Thá-thih leh哭，三脚椅á leh跳，掃帚leh掃，門leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ叫，窗á leh khi̍h-kho̍k叫，舊椅liâu leh se̍h厝間kho̍k-kho̍k-chông，胡桃樹leh lak葉á，所以我kā我ê毛草lóng總thǹg--落-來。 」
「Án-ne，」細漢chŏ͘-gín-á講：「我to̍h beh kā我ê牛奶chhia倒了了，」細漢chŏ͘-gín-á chŏaⁿ kā牛奶罐á tàn--leh，牛奶to̍h chhia--倒-ah。
“O͘h!” Sè-chiah chiáu-á ìn kóng: “Thí-thih sí--khì-ah, Thá-thih leh khàu, saⁿ-kha-í-á leh thiàu, sàu-chhiú leh sàu, mn̂g leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò, thang-á leh khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò, kū í-liâu leh se̍h chhù-keng kho̍k-kho̍k-chông, ô͘-thô-chhiū leh lak hio̍h-á, só͘-í góa kā góa ê mn̂g-chháu lóng-chóng thǹg--lo̍h-lâi.”
“Án-ne,” sè-hàn chŏ͘-gín-á kóng: “góa to̍h beh kā góa ê gû-leng chhia-tó liáu-liáu,” sè-hàn chŏ͘-gín-á chŏaⁿ kā gû-leng koàn-á tàn--leh, gû-leng to̍h chhia--tó-ah.
Now there was an old man just by on the top of a ladder thatching a rick, and when he saw the little girl spill the milk, he said, "Little girl, what do you mean by spilling the milk? your little brothers and sisters must go without their suppers."
有1 ê老人to̍h tī附近，khiā tī 1支梯頂koân，伊tng teh kā草pû khàm茅草，tī伊看tio̍h細漢chŏ͘-gín-á chhia倒牛奶ê時，伊講：「細漢chŏ͘-gín-á，你是án-chóaⁿ beh kā牛奶chhia--倒？Án-ne你ê小弟小妹暗頓to̍h無thang食--ah。」
Ū 1 ê lāu-lâng to̍h tī hū-kīn, khiā tī 1 ki thui téng-koân, i tng teh kā chháu-pû khàm hm̂-chháu, tī i khòaⁿ tio̍h sè-hàn chŏ͘-gín-á chhia-tó gû-leng ê sî, i kóng: “Sè-hàn chŏ͘-gín-á, lí sī án-chóaⁿ beh kā gû-leng chhia--tó? Án-ne lí ê sió-tī sió-mōe àm-tǹg to̍h bô-thang chia̍h--ah.”
Then said the little girl, "Titty's dead, and Tatty weeps, the stool hops, and the broom sweeps, the door jars, and the window creaks, the old form gallops round the house, the walnut tree sheds all its leaves, the little bird moults all its feathers, and so I spill the milk."
"Oh!" said the old man, "then I'll tumble off the ladder and break my neck."
細漢chŏ͘-gín-á ìn講：「Thí-thih死--去-ah，Thá-thih leh哭，三脚椅á leh跳，掃帚leh掃，門leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ叫，窗á leh khi̍h-kho̍k叫，舊椅liâu leh se̍h厝間kho̍k-kho̍k-chông，胡桃樹leh lak葉á，細隻鳥á kā伊ê毛草lóng總thǹg--落-來，所以我to̍h kā牛奶chhia倒了了。 」
「喔，」老人講：「án-ne我to̍h beh對梯頂koân摔--落-來，kā我ê ām-kún-á摔ho͘斷。」
Sè-hàn chŏ͘-gín-á ìn kóng: “Thí-thih sí--khì-ah, Thá-thih leh khàu, saⁿ-kha-í-á leh thiàu, sàu-chhiú leh sàu, mn̂g leh īⁿ-oāiⁿ-kiò, thang-á leh khi̍h-kho̍k-kiò, kū í-liâu leh se̍h chhù-keng kho̍k-kho̍k-chông, ô͘-thô-chhiū leh lak hio̍h-á, sè-chiah chiáu-á kā i ê mn̂g-chháu lóng-chóng thǹg--lo̍h-lâi, só͘-í góa to̍h kā gû-leng chhia-tó liáu-liáu.”
“O͘h,” lāu-lâng kóng: “án-ne góa to̍h beh ùi thui téng-koân siak--lo̍h-lâi, kā góa ê ām-kún-á siak ho͘ tn̄g.”
So he tumbled off the ladder and broke his neck; and when the old man broke his neck, the great walnut tree fell down with a crash and upset the old form and house, and the house falling knocked the window out, and the window knocked the door down, and the door upset the broom, and the broom upset the stool, and poor little Tatty Mouse was buried beneath the ruins.

I chŏaⁿ ùi thui téng-koân siak--lo̍h-lâi, ām-kún-á siak-tn̄g--khì; to̍h tī lāu-lâng ām-kún-á siak-tn̄g--khì ê sî, tōa ô͘-thô-chhiū phiáng--1-ē tó--lo̍h-lâi, kā kū í-liâu kah chhù-keng lòng kah chóng péng--kòe, chhù-keng tó--lo̍h-lâi ê sî, thang-á mā ho͘ lòng kah poe--cháu, thang-á koh kā mn̂g lòng--tó, mn̂g koh khì lòng tó sàu-chhiú, sàu-chhiú koh khì lòng tó saⁿ-kha-í-á, ah khó͘-liân ê Niáu-chhí-á Thá-thih to̍h khì hông tâi tī phòa-chng-á-hiā ē-té--ah.
