艾瑞．卡爾(Eric Carle)是一位美國兒童書籍作家、設計師和插畫，2003年，American Library Association授予卡爾兩年一度的Laura Ingalls Wilder獎章（現稱為 Children's Literature Legacy Award），該獎項旨在表彰在美國出版的兒童圖書領域做出持久貢獻的作家或插畫家。卡爾也是2010 年兩年一度的國際安徒生獎(Hans Christian Andersen Award)的美國提名人艾瑞．卡爾被稱為色彩的魔術師，他用獨一無二的色紙，拼貼出全世界最知名的毛毛蟲。他的經典作品《好餓的毛毛蟲》被翻譯成64種語言版本，全球銷量近超過5000 多萬冊，堪稱圖畫書界的聖經！

Eric Carle is acclaimed and beloved as the creator of brilliantly illustrated and innovatively designed picture books for very young children. His best-known work, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has been translated into 70 languages and sold over 55 million copies. Carle illustrated more than seventy books, many best sellers, most of which he also wrote, and more than 170 million copies of his books have sold around the world. In 2003, Carle received the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award (now called the Children’s Literature Legacy Award) for lifetime achievement in children’s literature. In 2002, Eric and his wife, Barbara, cofounded The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art (www.carlemuseum.org) in Amherst, Massachusetts, a 40,000-square-foot space dedicated to the celebration of picture books and picture book illustrations from around the world, underscoring the cultural, historical, and artistic significance of picture books and their art form. "麵包師沃爾特(Walter the baker)"目前沒有繁體書籍只有簡體書籍，故事內容是在敘述扭結麵包由來，開頭是敘述沒有牛奶的做的麵包師傅，用水來代替牛來完成麵包，結果讓惹怒了公爵夫婦，公爵夫婦出了一道題目(三道陽光穿過的麵包)給麵包師傅，並表明沒有完成任務要離開這個小鎮，於是在麵包師傅努力快要絕望的情況下，麵包師傅的兒子發現泡在水裡的麵團，麵包師傅將泡水的麵團將錯就錯拿去烘烤，於是發現終於完成公爵夫婦的任務，這個故事告訴孩童遇到問題，不能抱著能混過的心態去完成，因為所帶來的後果可能比問題還要大
