The Grand Canyon Adventure
Eva adjusted her hat and looked over the edge of the trail. “Wow,” she whispered.
Gigi’s eyes grew wide. “It looks like the Earth has been folded and painted!”
Their family had flown to Arizona for spring break. Today, they were hiking the Grand Canyon.
Isaac took out his binoculars. “Look down there—tiny dots! Those are hikers!”
The trail twisted and turned along the red rock cliffs. Birds soared below them, and sunlight turned the canyon walls orange and gold.
“This is one of the biggest canyons in the world,” Dad said. “It’s over 400 kilometers long!”
Eva nodded. “It’s like standing inside a painting made of rock.”
They stopped at an overlook for a picnic. Gigi sketched the view in her notebook—layers of mountains, shadows, and a thin blue river below.
Suddenly, the wind picked up. A cloud moved, and the whole canyon looked different.
“Every hour it changes,” Isaac said. “The light paints new colors.”
As they hiked back, the children were quiet—not because they were tired, but because they were full of wonder.
That night, Eva wrote in her journal:
“Today I stood in a giant storybook made by time.”
