【資源分享】美國基督教古典式學校：第五、六年級人文學科教學規劃與課程列表
在教學一年以後，我想向大家推薦基督教古典式學校（Christian Classical School）的教學課程。雖然我不再繼續在這所學校教書，但學校的教學規劃（curriculum）與使用教材有一定的參考價值。希望對美國教育、在家教育、課外讀物感興趣的家長有所幫助！

學年主題
我負責五、六年級（Grade 5 & 6）的人文學科教學任務，所以對這部分課程最熟悉。需要注意的是，我們合併兩個年級教學，五年級和六年級的學生一起上課。為避免教學內容的重複，課程分A、B兩年教學，每年教學主題不同。
- Year A：A年是以古希臘羅馬為主題設計的課程。
- Year B：B年是以歐洲中世紀為主題設計的課程。
文學與詩歌 Literature & Poetry
五、六年級已經開始要求學生閱讀較有挑戰性的英文小說，也要求學生背誦較長的詩歌。英文小說長度由五萬字到十萬字不等，每週要求的閱讀量大約為一萬五千字。每本書大約要讀五至八週，每週三章至五章。每週閱讀時長不應超過一個半小時，而寫作業約需半個小時。這個年級的大部分學生都是自主閱讀，有些會用有聲書（audiobook），極少數需要家長讀給孩子聽。書籍的選擇與本年的主題相關，而且情節引人入勝，非常適合培養孩子的閱讀興趣。
