[科技趨勢學英文] Google推出新的AI模型號稱可以打敗ChatGPT

上禮拜Google 發布了新的AI模型Gemini，
號稱可以打敗ChatGPT
這一年來關於AI的八卦真的很精彩XD

我滿喜歡這篇新聞
用了很多生動的用詞來描繪這個AI模型將對Google的產品服務產生的影響

字裡行間可以感覺Google對自己很有信心呢~

Google ¹launches Gemini, the AI model it hopes will ²take down GPT-4

Google¹發布了一個叫做Gemini的AI模型，希望能夠²打敗GPT-4。

1. 某公司 launches 某產品/服務: 某公司發布某個新產品/服務
   科技公司很常用到這個單字
   
2. A takes down B: A把B打敗，就是A奪去B的地位

It's the beginning of a new era of AI at Google, says CEO Sundar Pichai: the Gemini era.

Google的CEO說：「這是一個屬於Google AI新時代的開始，也就是Gemini的時代」

• a new era of ...: 一個屬於...的新世代​

Gemini is Google's ¹latest large language model, ²is now launching to the public.

Gemini是Google¹最新的大型語言模型，現在²正在向大眾推出。

1. latest 產品/服務/型號: 最新的產品/服務/型號
   這個形容詞很常用在科技、新創產業，因為產品服務總是在推陳出新
   比方說：

The latest version of the operating system.

​最新版本的作業系統

The latest version of the software application.

​最新版本的軟體應用程式

2. 某產品 be launching to 誰: 某產品正在發布給誰

​

The model is a huge leap forward in an AI model that ²will ultimately affect ³practically all of Google's products.

這個模型是在AI領域的¹一大突破，²最終將會影響³幾乎所有Google的產品。

1. a huge leap forward: 往前跨很大一步​
   這裡想要描述Google這個新的AI服務是一個突破性的發展​
   
2. will ultimately affect ...: 最終會影響到...​
   
3. practically: 實際層面地​
   這個副詞用得很生動，拿來描述這個新AI模型會「幾乎、完全性的」影響到Google所有的產品

"One of the powerful things about this moment," Pichai says, "is you can work on one ¹underlying technology and make it better and it ²immediately flows across our products."

Google CEO 表示：「此刻推出這個模型的一個強大之處是在於，你可以致力於一項¹核心技術的優化，而它會²立即影響到我們的所有產品。」

1. underlying technology: 底層技術、核心技術​
   
2. immediately flows across...: 馬上滲透、散佈到...
   ​這個用法也很生動，這裡是想講因為AI模型是屬於底層性的技術，所以當對模型做出調整，就可以立即性地影響到所有Google產品

Google is launching the model in a few ways right now: Bard ¹is now powered by Gemini Pro, and Pixel 8 Pro users will get a few ²new features ³thanks to Gemini Nano.

Google目前以幾種方式推出這個模型：Bard現在是¹被Gemini Pro這個AI模型所驅動，而Pixel 8 Pro用戶將³因Gemini Nano而獲得一些²新功能。

1. 某產品 be powered by 某技術: 某產品被某技術所驅動​
   
2. new features: 新功能​
   
3. thanks to 誰: 因為誰的緣故可以做到某件事

Developers and enterprise customers will be able to access Gemini Pro through Google Generative AI Studio or Vertex AI in Google Cloud starting on December 13th.

開發人員和企業客戶於12月13日開始將可以透過Google Generative AI Studio或Google Cloud的Vertex AI來使用Gemini Pro這個模型。

• will be able to 做某事 through 某方法: ​將可以透過某方法來做到某件事

Gemini ¹is only available in English for now, ²with other languages evidently coming soon.​

目前Gemini僅¹有英文版本可以使用，其他語言版本將²很快推出。

2. with 誰 coming soon: 誰很快會出現/到來

But Pichai says the model will ¹eventually ²be integrated into Google's search engine, its ad products, the Chrome browser, and more, all over the world.

但Google CEO 表示，這個模型¹最終將²整合到Google的搜索引擎、廣告產品、Chrome瀏覽器，還有其他遍佈在全球各地的產品。
