    I died for beauty / Emily Dickinson


    I died for Beauty – but was scarce

    我為美而死 – 但我在墳裡

    Adjusted in the Tomb,

    才剛適應不久,

    When one who died for Truth, was lain

    一個為真理而死的人

    In an adjoining Room –

    於我鄰室躺臥 –

    He questioned softly “why I failed? “

    "For Beauty," I replied –

    「為美。」我回答 –

    "And I – for Truth, Themself are One

    We brethren, are," He said –

    And so, as Kinsmen, met a Night–

    於是,如親人般,於夜相遇 –

    We talked between the Rooms –

    我們隔牆侃侃而談 –

    Until the Moss had reached our lips –

    直到青苔漫延至我們雙唇 –

    And covered up – our names –

    掩蓋了– 我們的名字 –
