Who Manufactured the Pagers?

On September 17, 2024, a severe explosion occurred in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, and its surrounding areas, involving pagers. The explosion resulted in nine fatalities and injuries to 2,800 people, including approximately 200 seriously injured. This incident not only caused significant shock within Lebanon but also garnered considerable attention from the international community.

In the pager explosion incident in Lebanon, a high explosive called PENT (Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate) was involved. It was reported that international organizations, including the United Nations and the European Union, issued statements condemning the incident and urged all parties involved to exercise restraint to prevent an escalation of the regional situation. Regarding the cause of the explosion, experts analyzed that a battery short circuit, although capable of starting a fire, would not cause such extensive damage.

Furthermore, media revealed that the pagers that exploded were manufactured by a European agent, the Hungarian company BAC•CONSULTING•KFT. This discovery provided a new direction for the investigation into the incident. In this context, attention has been focused on the role and responsibility of BAC, as well as potential connections to Israel. It has been reported that BAC may be a shell company, and the actual manufacturer could be Israeli intelligence agents. If these allegations are true, it would involve serious international legal and ethical issues.

In terms of how to prevent such incidents from recurring, the international community needs to work together to enhance oversight of the electronics supply chain, ensuring the safety and reliability of products. At the same time, diplomatic and legal avenues should be pursued to hold the responsible parties accountable and seek justice for the victims.
