The terrible headache was due to having completely skipped lunch break. Just before noon, she received a call that, in retrospect, she wished she hadn’t answered. The conversation wasn’t long, but what the other party asked to coordinate required quite a bit of preparation, and just the process of checking and verifying everything ate up two-thirds of her lunch break.
Instead of taking a nap like she should have, she ended up hurriedly finishing her lunch. Still, she took a moment to stroll under the shade of the trees around the hotel, stopping to watch the clouds gently brush against the trees on the ridgeline.
How was she going to get through the entire afternoon with such strained energy? Perhaps sneaking off to the coffee shop could be an option.
In the distance, the bell tower chimed the first note of 1:30.
