You can see a pair of red high heels that are priced at one hundred United States Dollars on the display platform. Then, there are no customers besides the display platform. No one wants to buy this pair of high heels. However, when a thirty-eight percent discount on this pair of red high heels, oh wow, this discount makes many customers feel the strong pull of red high heels. So, you can see an old man with white hair, a woman with yellow hair, other rich men, and even an American football player...what? Why does an American football player need a pair of red high heels? Could it be that this player wears red high heels to participate in a college football competition? And then, these customers are like zombies and triggered impulse buying to scramble for the red high heels. Yeah ~ Why doesn't a beautiful woman rush to get this?
In my opinion, the reason why the shopping phenomenon happens is that merchants use consumer psychology to change the value of a product and influence consumers' cognition to stimulate buying. But why does this consumer psychology can do this? It's not magic. Consumer psychology shows that the discounts not only satisfy our desire to save money but also stimulate a sense of urgency, making people feel anxious that "if you miss it this time, you will miss it forever." The pressure of this limited-time offer often makes it possible to analyze rationally; instead, people think that the bargain price is the best opportunity to buy the commodity. Even though the customers find that they don't need or use it, they still buy it. They hardly realized that the original price a while ago was cheaper than the current bargain price. This picture is the embodiment of how merchants use consumer psychology to carefully plan marketing campaigns. This picture makes me think about the experience that I had shopping at a clothing store which is called "XControl" in a department store. I remember that I was considering how many hoodies do I want to buy. A hoody is one thousand two hundred NT dollars, but two hoodies are two thousand NT dollars. Because I liked the style of the two hoodies very much, so I bought both the hoodies later. I'm not sure whether I fell into the trap of marketing tactics that the merchant planned or not. I only know I bought two hoodies I would want to wear.
Okay, the above are my thoughts on this picture. Hope you guys like it. Thanks for reading.
