《戰神:諸神黃昏》(God of War: Ragnarök, 2022)在今年11月出正式上市,故事延續上一代《戰神》(God of War, 2018)的劇情,講述來到北歐眾神之境的克雷多斯(Kratos)與女巨人勞菲(Laufey)相愛後生下一子阿特柔斯(Atreus);菲死後,父子兩人相依為命,遵照菲的遺願,將其骨灰灑在九界最高的山頭上。
從2018年到2022年的兩款《戰神》作品,講述的都是「父子關係」。相較於過往系列作的暴力、仇恨甚至情色的鮮明特點,這是很明顯、可接受的改變;畢竟,從第一款《戰神》遊戲在2005年上市到2018年的《戰神》問世,已經經過了十三年,作為主要客群的歐美男性玩家可能早已有了妻小,對於遊戲內容的深度或許也開始有了要求。所以克雷多斯得跟著玩家一同成長,而玩家也在遊戲中與主角們一同成長。《戰神》中,父親告訴兒子"Don't be sorry, be better.";到了《戰神:諸神黃昏》,這句話反而是兒子告訴了父親。兩名主角彼此扶持、一起成長,也讓我們熱淚盈眶。
Thor: Don't you know... what I've done?
Kratos: Yes. But what will you do now?
Thor: WE don't change. WE... are destroyers.
Kratos: No more. For the sake of our children, we must be better.
而且,或許是因為奧丁的聲音、形象過於柔弱,我其實也很難討厭遊戲中的奧丁(或許也是因為我很好騙?)。而奧丁最後的下場,在我看來,或許隱隱映照了索尼互動娛樂(Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC, SIE)旗下令一間工作室的著名遊戲結局。
對《最後生還者2》的反思?
大概是因為作為《最後生還者2》結局支持者的緣故,對於這樣的遊戲劇情有些敏感,我在玩完《戰神:諸神黃昏》的主線劇情之後,總覺得關於奧丁的下場,是聖塔莫尼卡工作室(Santa Monica Studio)在經歷了友社頑皮狗(Naughty Dog)製作的《最後生還者2》(The Last of Us Part II, 2020)劇情遭受抨擊後所做出的「回應」。
Freya: I suppose this is the point where I forgive you, or I kill you.
Kratos: Have you decided?
Freya: To be honest... I don't think I can do either. There's still a part of me that is so angry. And it'll always be... It'll always be angry. But, no. You are not the one who needs to die. I do see that. Look, everything that's happened between us... Kratos: No need to explain. Not to me. Not for that. I do not regret saving your life... and never will. But the choice between life and death should have been yours to make. I should not have robbed you of that choice.
