The Madman
A dreary, weary, stooping figure,
Was lost in mindless, numbing vigor,
And said to thee, “What name is I?
What madness can be expressed in fie?”
“My mind is bland, utterly dull,
My thoughts are bleak and stripped to skull,
What point is there in thinking this?
Why not divulge in thinking bliss?”
“The world is flat, or so I say,
It matters not what others pray,
If I believe the gods are dead,
Then it is said, as you have read.”
“Fact and reason are all trivial,
They are as strong as weakened material,
What truly matters in the world,
Is a madman’s rambling yet unfurled.”
