The 2025 Nepalese Gen Z protests were a large-scale anti-corruption movement predominantly organized by Generation Z students and young citizens, beginning in early September 2025. These protests escalated from a government ban on 26 social media platforms, including Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, Signal, and Snapchat, which was seen as a move to suppress dissent and control young people's digital livelihoods.

The ban was officially motivated by the failure of these platforms to register under new digital taxation rules but was met with widespread criticism, particularly among the youth who were using social media to expose nepotism and corruption by political elites.

The protests represented a broad public frustration with corruption, nepotism, and mismanagement of public funds by government officials and their families. With Nepal's median age at 25 and high social media penetration, especially among Gen Z, the impact of the ban was immediate, damaging youth employment and social communication.
