[科技新聞學英文] Nvidia (輝達) 和富士康合作建造人工智慧工廠

前幾天在 BBC 上看一則科技新聞在講 Nvidia (輝達) 跟 Foxconn (富士康) 要共同合作建造智慧工廠

🎈 The world's most valuable chip company Nvidia and iPhone maker Foxconn ¹are joining forces to build ²so-called "AI factories".

全球最有價值的晶片公司輝達和iPhone製造商富士康¹正攜手合作建造²所謂的「人工智慧工廠」。

1. join forces: 結合彼此的力量

這裡就是說「輝達跟富士康要一起合作」

2. so-called: 所謂的

🎈 The firms say it is a new kind of data center that uses Nvidia chips to power a "wide range" of applications.

這兩家公司表示：這是一種全新的資料中心，使用輝達晶片來為「廣大範圍」的應用提供動能。

• to power...: 提供力量/動能

這裡指的是「輝達的晶片可以提供足夠動能來支撐各種應用」

🎈 They ¹include ²training autonomous vehicles, robotics platforms and large language models.

這些應用¹包括 ²訓練自駕車、機器人系統平台和大型語言模型。

1. include...: 包含 (哪些項目)

2. to train: 訓練 (產品/平台/模型)

🎈 "A new type of manufacturing ¹has emerged - the production of intelligence and the data centers that produce it are AI factories," Mr Huang said, adding that Foxconn had the ²expertise and ³scale to build these factories globally.

輝達創辦人黃仁勳​先生說： 「一種新型的製造模式¹已經出現了 - 智能化生產，而生產的數據中心被稱為人工智慧工廠」，他還補充說富士康擁有在全球各地建造這些工廠的 ²專業知識和³規模。

2. expertise: (擁有某領域的)專業知識

3. scale: 規模

這裡指的是 「富士康這間公司規模足夠成熟來蓋新型人工智慧工廠」

🎈 Mr Liu also said Foxconn is trying to " ¹convert itself ¹from a manufacturing service company ¹to a platform solution company," citing ²smart cities and ²smart manufacturing as other applications for AI factories. 鴻海的董事長劉揚偉還表示，富士康正試圖¹從製造服務公司¹轉型為平台解決方案公司，提到²智慧城市和²智能製造作為人工智慧工廠的其他應用。

1. convert from A to B: 從 A 轉換到 B

這裡指的是「公司要從A方向轉型成B方向」

2. smart: 字面意思是「聰明的」，

這幾年常拿來描述「有使用人工智慧技術的」各種應用

🎈 Meanwhile, Foxconn, which makes over half of the world's Apple products, has been trying to ¹diversify its business and ²replicate its success in assembling personal computers and smartphones.

在此同時，富士康身為生產超過全球一半的蘋果產品的公司，一直在試圖¹多角化業務項目，並²複製富士康²在組裝個人電腦和智能手機方面²的成功。

1. diversify: 多元化/多角化

這裡指的是「公司想要發展多元的業務方向」

2. replicate its success in...: 複製在...方面的成功

🎈 Mr Liu told the BBC that electric vehicles (EVs) are what will drive its growth in the coming decades.

鴻海的董事長劉揚偉告訴BBC，未來幾十年將由電動汽車（EVs）來推動公司的成長。

• drive its growth: 推動...成長

這裡指的是 「推動公司新的業務項目成長」

🎈 In January, Foxconn and Nvidia ¹announced a partnership to ²develop autonomous vehicle platforms, in which Foxconn would manufacture electronic control units for cars ³based on Nvidia's chips.

今年1月，富士康和輝達¹宣布合作 ²開發自駕車平台，其中富士康將³基於輝達的晶片製造汽車的電子控制元件。

1. announced a partnership: 宣布某個合作關係

2. develop: 開發/發展(某產品/平台/流程) 科技業很常用這個單字

3. based on...: 基於...
