上周末我看到一個跟 Uber 有關的新聞覺得有點吃驚~
就是 Uber Eats 最近花大概 300 億台幣買下台灣的 foodpanda 業務
(foodpanda 是台灣市佔第一的外送平台)
300 億這個併購價格真的超高，
打破除了半導體業收購案以外的紀錄
不然 Uber 怎麼願意花 300 億買下 foodpanda 😆

Uber has 1reached an agreement with Delivery Hero to 2acquire its foodpanda delivery service in Taiwan.
Uber 已經與 foodpanda 母公司1達成協議，2收購其在台灣的 foodpanda 外送服務。

The acquisition 1is anticipated to close in the first half of 2025 and 2involve a US$950 million cash transaction.
此項收購案1預計將於2025年前半年完成，2涉及(包含了) 9.5億美元的現金交易。

某事涉及(包含了) 哪些具體細節
Delivery Hero CEO said that the company needs to 1focus its resources on other parts of our global 2footprint.
foodpanda母公司的執行長表示，公司需要1將資源集中在我們全球其他地區的2業務版圖上。
- to focus its resources on...：
把資源集中在 (某處) - footprint：
字面意思是「足跡」，這裡拿來指企業橫跨全球的「業務版圖」
The deal, if it 1goes ahead, would be one of the largest international acquisitions in Taiwan 2outside the semiconductor industry.
如果這項交易有1順利進行，將會是台灣半導體產業2以外最大的國際收購案之一。
- go ahead：
字面意思是「往前走」，這裡拿來指交易可以「順利進行」 - outside 某範圍：
在某範圍以外
Meanwhile, Taiwan's Consumers' Foundation said that the FTC should 1be wary of the acquisition resulting in a 2monopoly.
同時，台灣的消費者基金會表示，公平交易委員會應要1警慎注意此收購案可能導致2商業壟斷 (一家獨大)。
- be wary of 某事：
對某件事態度謹慎，警覺可能發生的問題 - monopoly：
商業上的「壟斷現象」，也就是「某間公司在市場獨大，所以大家只能依賴它提供的商品或服務」
They warned that 1the lack of competition could impact 2consumer rights.
他們警告說市場1缺乏競爭可能會影響2消費者權益。
- the lack of..：
缺乏某東西/某元素 - consumer rights：
消費者權益
1While the acquisition could help 2reduce costs and 3enhance service quality, without competition, businesses may also 4be incentivized to reduce service quality to consumers and restaurants.
1儘管此收購案可能有助於2降低成本並3提升服務品質，但在沒有競爭的情況下，企業也可能4會有動機降低對消費者和餐廳的服務品質。

儘管... (拿來對比前後兩句話的不同觀點) - reduce costs：
降低成本 - enhance service quality：
提升服務品質 - be incentivized to 做某事：
有動機 / 動力做某事 (通常背後有金錢方面的好處驅使)
