This week's Bible story introduces children to the moment Moses encounters the burning bush—one of the most mysterious and meaningful events in the Old Testament. This version is designed for fifth-grade readers with emphasis on spiritual vocabulary, present perfect + past simple, and sensory descriptions. It encourages students to reflect on calling, listening, and awe.
📖 Today's Reading

Moses had been a shepherd in the desert for many years. The days were dry, quiet, and hot. He walked slowly, watching his sheep and listening to the wind across the sand.
One afternoon, something strange caught his eye—a bush that was on fire. But it wasn’t burning up.The flames danced, but the leaves stayed green. There was no smoke. No ashes. Just heat and light.
He stepped closer.
Then, a voice called out from the middle of the fire. 'Moses, Moses!'
Moses stopped. 'Here I am,'
he said, confused.
'Take off your sandals,'
the voice said. 'This is holy ground.'
Moses knelt down, heart pounding. He had never felt so small—and yet, so seen.
The voice was God’s.
'I have seen the suffering of my people,'
God said. 'I am sending you to lead them to freedom.'
Moses looked at his hands, at the dry earth, at the sheep around him. 'Me?'
he whispered.
But the bush kept burning.
And the voice kept calling.
