Picture Book One – The Little Pig in the Mirror (1-8)
1.In the forest, there lived a little pig, along with various animals like rabbits, deer, bears, and birds. This little pig had a curly tail and floppy ears; it was always very shy and timid.
2.In fact, besides its home, which felt the safest, the little pig rarely ventured far. What was special about the little pig's home was that it didn’t have a mirror because it thought it didn’t look good...
3.Nearby lived a rabbit, a deer, a bear, and a bird. Although the little pig didn’t like to go out, it would sometimes meet everyone at the market when it needed food. The little pig thought the rabbit's long ears were beautiful, the deer’s long legs were lovely, and the bear looked cute. However, each time, it would shyly nod and quickly walk away.
4.One day, it rained heavily, and the puddles were filled with water. The little pig was eager to go out but forgot to bring an umbrella. It accidentally slipped and fell, looking down to see its muddy reflection in the puddle. Suddenly, it laughed, realizing that it looked quite cute when it smiled!
5.The next day, the little pig gathered its courage and bought a mirror. From that day on, the little pig slowly practiced smiling at itself in the mirror, gradually building up its confidence. In the morning, the little pig would say to its reflection, “Good morning! It’s a new day again!”
6.With a better understanding of itself, the little pig began to happily be itself, not worrying about how others saw it, and expressing the most comfortable and suitable feelings. When happy, it would smile; when sad, it would cry a little and move on. But it also hoped to always keep a joyful heart, feeling very at ease.
7.When it saw the rabbit, it thought its own ears were cute too; when it saw the deer, it thought its own legs were adorable; and when it saw the bear, it realized it looked good when smiling. The birds happily flapped their wings, and the atmosphere felt great. At that moment, the forest was full of life.
8.With the encouragement it gave itself every day, the little pig also gathered the courage to greet its neighbors. The rabbit would wiggle its ears and say, “Hello,” the deer would run up to the little pig and say, “Good morning,” and the bear would shake the little pig’s hand and say, “It’s great to see you today.” Just like that, the little pig made many friends!
