Praise「稱讚、讚揚」的用法！！

話不多說，馬上來介紹我在學習這個字如何使用時，統整下來的筆記內容！

【Praise為及物動詞(transitive verbs)，後面要直接加受詞】

(一)動詞用法

e.g. My teacher praised me yesterday because I did well on the exam.

e.g. Her singing skills were praise by all the classmates. (及物可以被動)

2. 第二種，加for，表達「要稱讚對方的原因」

e.g. Kevin's girlfriend really loves praising him for his courage(勇氣)
because he helps her kill cockroaches(蟑螂) every day.

→由這句可知，kevin的女朋友稱讚他的原因是因為他的「勇氣可嘉」。

(二)常見搭配詞

這時，praise通常是以被動"praised"的形式出現。

highly高度讚揚/ widely廣受讚揚/ universally(比前者更廣)/

e.g. Some K-pop stars are highly praised by the fans for frequently
making significant contributions to society.

中：有一些k-pop明星因時常對社會做出巨大貢獻而受到粉絲高度讚揚。

e.g. The chef's culinary skills are widely praised for being able to create
enjoyable and memorable dining experiences.

中：這位主廚的烹飪技巧因能創造出愉快且回憶無窮的用餐體驗而廣受讚譽。

(三)慣用語

介紹完一些比較死板的內容，馬上來分享這個很好記憶的慣用語!

記憶：可以想像成他是說「把...捧上天 」，不過並無負面意味啦~

注意：the skies要記得加the，而且天空是複數唷，這些都是固定的QQ

e.g. My piano teacher always praises me to the skies, but I think there's
still much room for improvement.

中：我的鋼琴老師總是瘋狂稱讚我，但我認為我還有很大的進步空間

接下來就來講當名詞時的用法吧，意思都沒變唷~

【Praise為不可數名詞(uncountable nouns)】

(一)片語用法

e.g. Mr. Chen authored this book in praise of those standing up for
human rights in the past. They are the real heroes in history.

中：Mr. Chen寫了這本書讚美那些過去挺身捍衛人權的人。他們是歷史上真正的
英雄。

補充：author(vt.)撰寫(書籍文章等) (n. C)作者

　　　stand up for~ 捍衛、擁護、支持

e.g. The teacher was full of praise for the students' remarkable(非凡顯眼)
progress(進步) in academics(學科).

中：這位老師對學生們在學科中顯著的進步充滿讚揚。

e.g. I have nothing but praise for Alex because he rescued a cat trapped
and injured by a rat trap.

中：我對Alex充滿了讚美因為他拯救了一隻被捕鼠夾困住且弄傷的貓。

(二)常見搭配詞-動詞

這part不管在寫作還是翻譯都超級實用唷！

e.g. The film(電影) has won high praise from audiences and critics(評論
家).

e.g. Our teacher definitely deserves high praise for her hard work.

e.g. Parents should always remember to give their children plenty of
praise to encourage them.

這邊例句都比較簡單，就不做翻譯了喔!

另外，也有比較進階的寫法...

shower/heap praise on somebody，就是給予...某人滿滿讚美!

(三)常見搭配詞-形容詞

e.g. His economic policies have won widespread praise for reducing
government debt. (Cambridge)

中：他的經濟政策因減輕了政府的債務而受到廣泛讚揚。(劍橋字典)

e.g. His proposal was singled out for special praise by the manager.

中：他的提案被經理挑出來特別讚賞。
