寫作的時候發現單純描述大幅/小幅升降是不夠完整傳達意思
(描述升降的初級用法請見 詞彙_升降趨勢
因此列出了6個跟升降趨勢相關的進階描述請chatGPT幫我列出同義片語跟例句
例句下面的不是翻譯而是寫作用法,因為是AI給的就自行斟酌一下(個人是覺得的無論如何chatGPT都比我現在的英文程度好,照單全收也無不可)

Category

  1. (組間)漲/跌幅相似
  2. (組間)漲/跌至相似數值
  3. (組間)漲/跌幅不同,出現超過或落後
  4. (組內)漲/跌幅度前後不同
  5. (組內)在某一時間點漲跌或到達某一數值
  6. (組內)整體穩定或些微波動

粗體是我個人的唸書筆記沒什麼特殊意思


Category 1 漲/跌幅相似

指的是變化幅度,例如A組20->25 & B組30->35,都是上升5

increased to a similar extent

Both groups increased to a similar extent over the period.
最安全、最常見,完全指「漲幅」,不會被誤解為數值一樣

rose by a comparable amount

The two categories rose by a comparable amount between 2007 and 2011.
academic 感強,適合中段對比

experienced similar growth

Both income groups experienced similar growth during the period.
偏概述型,適合避免數字

saw a similar increase

The two lower-income groups saw a similar increase in 2011.
自然、好接 while / whereas

showed a comparable rise

The figures showed a comparable rise over the same timeframe.
適合 Overview 開頭

changed at a similar rate

The two groups changed at a similar rate throughout the period.
rate 強調「速度+幅度」

followed a similar upward/downward trend

Both categories followed a similar upward trend.
偏「趨勢形狀」,不是精準數量

recorded parallel growth

The two series recorded parallel growth over the period.
非常高分,用在折線圖平行上升特別好

underwent a similar degree of increase

Both groups underwent a similar degree of increase.
degree 偏正式,學術感強

rose to a similar degree

The figures rose to a similar degree before levelling off.
可接後續變化,句型彈性高


Category 2 漲/跌至相似數值

兩組變化至同一個數值(也有差距幾乎消失的意思)

reached similar levels

Both groups reached similar levels by the end of the period.
最標準、最不模糊

ended at roughly the same figure

The two categories ended at roughly the same figure in 2015.
figure 對 Task 1 非常安全

finished at comparable levels

The figures finished at comparable levels.
適合段落收尾

converged at around X

The two trends converged at around 30%.
converged高分詞,表示「靠攏」

stood at similar figures

Both income groups stood at similar figures in the final year.
stood at 是考官熟語

levelled off at a similar point

The two series levelled off at a similar point.
有「變動轉穩定」暗示

arrived at similar values

By 2015, both groups arrived at similar values.
偏書面、少用但正確

matched each other at X

The figures matched each other at approximately 20 million.
非常清楚,但略口語,慎用

were almost identical in the final year

The two values were almost identical in the final year.
identical只能用在真的很接近

closed the gap and met at X

The gap closed as both figures met at around 25%.
適合描述「差距縮小」


Category 3 漲/跌幅不同,出現超過或落後

increased more sharply than

X increased more sharply than Y over the period.
sharp 強調幅度+速度

experienced a greater rise than

Group A experienced a greater rise than Group B.
非常正式、安全

outpaced

Growth in X outpaced that of Y.
高分詞,顯示動態差距

surpassed

X surpassed Y in 2011.
適合「交叉超越」圖表

overtook

X overtook Y to become the largest group.
高分常見

exceeded

X exceeded Y throughout the period.
全期間比較

lagged behind

Y lagged behind the other categories.
描述落後

fell below

X fell below Y after 2011.
數值下降交錯時好用

widened the gap with

差距擴大

差距縮小,但未達完全相同

排名型描述

比 overtook 稍弱



Category 4 漲/跌幅度前後不同

growth slowed

Growth slowed after 2011.
書面、學術、自然。不適合只有兩個時間點的圖

the rate of increase declined

The rate of increase declined in the later years.
非常學術高分。只談「趨勢」減緩,不是數值下降

rose at a slower pace

The figure rose at a slower pace after 2000.
正式、自然。適合時間軸清楚的 line graph。較不適合bar chart

increase accelerated

The increase accelerated towards the end of the period.
正式、分析型語言。適合後期明顯加速上升的折線圖

experienced more rapid growth

The group experienced more rapid growth after 2010.
書面、偏學術。不適合輕微變動

momentum weakened

Growth momentum weakened in the final years.
高分、偏學術。趨勢開始失去力道但又非完全持平

gains tapered off

The gains gradually tapered off.
書面、高分。tapered off適合接近高點後趨緩

growth plateaued

Growth plateaued after reaching a peak.
非常學術、精準。plateau 指停滯,適合上升後真的「幾乎不動」

decline intensified

The decline intensified after 2011.
正式、偏學術。適合後期跌幅加劇

fell more sharply

正式、自然。搭配 earlier / later 很好用

changes became less pronounced

學術、總結型。適合段落結尾總結趨緩



Category 5 在某一時間點漲跌或到達某一數值

peaked at 數值

The figure peaked at 60% in 2010.
Task 1 最安全高頻詞。適合有明確最高點的折線圖

reached a high of 數值

It reached a high of 40 million in 2007.
high of 比 peak 稍正式。適合overview,不暗示之後一定下降

hit a low

The number hit a low in 2011.
hit 稍口語,但 IELTS 可接受

bottomed out at 數值

The figure bottomed out at 15%.
高分、學術。適合先跌後回升的趨勢,不適合只跌不回

saw a sharp rise

The category saw a sharp rise in 2005.
正式、考官熟悉。適合某一年劇烈變化

experienced a drop

The group experienced a drop in 2011.
中性、書面。適合年份明確的下降。不適合持續下降(無單點)

recorded its highest level

It recorded its highest level in the final year.
overview/body 都可、書面。不想重複 peak時

reached its peak

The figure reached its peak in 2010.
正式、自然。與 peaked at不要連用

climbed to 數值

The number climbed to around 30 million.
比 rose 更有畫面,書面但自然。適合上升過程+終點,不適合突然跳升

fell to 數值

It fell to its lowest point in 2011.
搭配 lowest point 很安全。適合下降後的終點,不適合描述過程

stood at 數值

The figure stood at approximately 25% in 2000.
最學術、最安全。適合靜態年份描述。不適合談趨勢

marked a turning point

The year 2011 marked a turning point.
高分分析型語言。適合趨勢方向改變的年份。必須真的「轉向」



Category 6 整體穩定或些微波動

remained relatively stable

The figure remained relatively stable throughout.
最安全、最萬用

showed little variation

The data showed little variation over time.
偏概述、書面、overview 感強。不適合細節段

changed only marginally

The number changed only marginally.
學術、精準。適合極小變動

fluctuated slightly

The figure fluctuated slightly around 20%.
around 一起用最好。正式、自然

hovered around 數值

It hovered around 30% for most of the period.
非常自然、考官愛。hovered盤旋某數值。不適合大幅震盪

stayed almost unchanged

The value stayed almost unchanged.
加almost很重要,書面、清楚

remained broadly constant

The level remained broadly constant.
偏學術,broadly適合非精確資料

varied within a narrow range

It varied within a narrow range.
非常學術、高分

experienced minimal change

The category experienced minimal change.
書面,可用被動。適合overview 或段尾

showed no significant change

There was no significant change.
正式、被動可用。適合報告語氣

正式、避免重複 remained

高頻高分。適合變動後趨穩,不適合全程平線
