The U.S. has recently imposed steep tariffs on multiple countries—China, the EU, Mexico, and Indonesia—with rates exceeding 30%, and even rumors of a 100% tariff on Taiwanese semiconductors. Public discourse centers on trade negotiations and diplomatic friction, but focusing only on surface-level issues misses the deeper institutional narrative. Tariffs are not the goal—they are syntax. Not a technical tool, but a rhetorical trigger.
Within the first 100 days of his second term, President Trump signed over 130 executive orders—including a 10% tariff on Chinese goods, a proposed 100% tariff on Taiwanese semiconductors, and 30% tariffs on the EU and Mexico—while declaring Canada should become America’s 51st state. These are not isolated moves, but part of a narrative flywheel: Enemy design → tariff threats → defense and tech sector gains → rising debt → dollar devaluation → foreign capital inflow → stock market support → narrative reproduction.
Trump’s policies manufacture adversaries not only in trade, but also across education, immigration, and energy. He repealed DEI programs, froze $2.2 billion in funding to Columbia University, pardoned 1,500 Capitol riot participants, exited the Paris Climate Agreement, and dismantled the Department of Education. These actions form a logic of institutional self-consumption: the system no longer offers pathways for renewal, but sustains its budget and legitimacy through adversarial rhetoric.
If institutional stability is the goal, can America move beyond adversarial syntax and design a flywheel that re-engages its people? For example: Land allocation for the unemployed → predictable resettlement process → production and processing → tax revenue return → community integration → institutional trust restoration. This is not idealism—it’s a structural necessity. Whether America can be great again depends not on external conflict, but on its willingness to build an internal rhythm of renewal and trust.

Author’s Statement I hope America can recognize its own institutional problems and confront them honestly. These challenges do not require external scapegoats to be resolved. In fact, externalizing blame cannot address the root issues—it only makes things worse.
This article is meant as a reminder: that policies driven by rhetorical victory often conceal deeper structural cracks. What the United States truly needs is not more powerful tariff tools, but a more sincere institutional response.
