The World Food Programme (WFP) is freezing employee movement in Gaza after one of its vehicles was targeted with repeated gunfire just meters from an Israeli checkpoint, according to a statement.

根據一份聲明稱，世界糧食計畫署（WFP）正在凍結加薩的員工行動，因為其一輛車輛在距離以色列檢查站僅幾公尺遠的地方多次遭到槍擊。

WFP said the incident happened at the Wadi Gaza bridge on Tuesday evening as two of its armoured vehicles were escorting a convoy of lorries with humanitarian aid.

WFP表示，這起事件於週二晚上發生在加薩瓦迪大橋，當時該組織的兩輛裝甲車正在護送運送人道主義援助的卡車車隊。

“Despite the convoy being clearly marked and receiving multiple clearances by Israel, the vehicle was directly struck by gunfire as it was moving toward an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) checkpoint ; at least 10 bullets hit the vehicle, according to the agency.

The IDF-designated “humanitarian zone” in Gaza is also steadily shrinking where increasing violence compromises our ability to deliver life-saving assistance.

In the past month alone, the IDF has reduced this zone by 38% – with the remaining space making up just over a tenth of Gaza’s total area.

Up to 88.5% of Gaza has been placed under evacuation orders since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, according to the UN, which is the primary provider and distributor of humanitarian aid in the territory.

That has forced an estimated 1.8 million people to shelter inside the humanitarian zone, which currently spans only about 41 sq km and lacks critical infrastructure and basic services.
