It’s time to write our weekly report again.
Anyway, we have collected 893 records from 80 cats and 17 cats have 10 or more than 10 records.
If we just count the number, left : center : right = 394 : 127 : 372. That means cats prefer on their left side slightly. However, if we separate them by gender, the male cats has a stronger left preference and female cats has a stronger right preference.
Interestingly, if we only count those cats that have 10 or more observation records… then it becomes different.
Let see the total count first.

They have a preference to lie on the left, but not as dramatic as the Current Biology paper.
Comparing to the reports from July 19 and July 26, I can see that the trend is changing. That means we need more data.
When we separate them by gender:

Both male and female prefer to lie on their left. Male (red bar) has a stronger preference than female.
Last, when we separate them by age:

Older cat (blue bar) has a stronger preference to lie on middle and left.
Anyway, if you are interested in joining the effort, here are Google forms that you can record your observations.
