In common perception, "Value" is often reduced to cost-effectiveness or the "worth" on a price tag. But within the coordinate system of Source Code, Value has nothing to do with numbers; it is about "Intensity."
Value stems from the Latin Valere. Its original meaning is formidable: "To be strong, to have power, to remain healthy, to survive."
In ancient logic, whether something possesses Value depends on its capacity to remain strong under pressure and restriction—to survive. When you commit vast resources to reconstruct a system or to counter environmental constraints, you are not chasing ledger returns; you are pursuing the Vitality of that system.
Ordinary observers see only the outflow of resources; they mistake it for waste. But a true leader knows that if a system loses its Value—its inherent "intensity" against reality—it will wither in the desert, regardless of how much budget it saves. You pay the ransom (Price) for the right to make the system strong.
Value is not about "how much you are worth"; it is about "how strong you are."

Value 源自拉丁語 Valere，它的原意極其強悍：「強壯、有力量、保持健康、生存」。
在古老的邏輯中，一個事物是否有 Value，取決於它在面對壓力與受限時，是否具備足夠的強度活下來。當你投入龐大的資源去重構一個系統、去對抗環境的擠壓時，你追求的並不是帳面上的回報，而是這個系統的 Vitality（生命力）。
一般的觀測者只看見資源的流出，他們質疑那是浪費。但真正的領袖知道，如果一個系統失去了 Value —— 失去了那份對抗現實的「強度」—— 那麼它即便守住了預算，也無法在荒漠中生存。你支付贖金（Price），是為了換取這份讓系統變強壯的權利。
