剛剛在《Nature Ecology & Evolution》上看到一個人物訪談，標題《Talk the talk and walk the walk》讓人不解，這篇文章的主角是 Kimberleigh Tommy，是University of the Witwatersrand 的博士候選人，主要的研究題目是跟人類移動相關的功能型態學 ( functional morphology )。

Kimberleigh Tommy is a PhD candidate and science communicator, based at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where she studies hominin functional morphology as it relates to locomotion.

訪談中提到一個很重要的問題

「你如何平衡科普工作和個人研究呢？」

她表示這是一個很困難的事情，目前能做的是選擇自己能負荷的研究題目，並且兼顧科普工作。對她來說，科普跟研究是相同重要的事情，撰寫的思考過程有助於自己從不同角度理解自己的研究題目，以及能夠與公眾、其他研究領域有所接觸。

" I think that my broad SciComm work has helped me academically as well, giving me necessary perspective and helping me think about my work in different contexts. "

非常認同這個觀點，每次在撰寫貼文都是一個串接知識的過程，思考如何吸引讀者、讓讀者看得懂的時候，跳轉不同觀點得以把每一個知識想得更仔細。

關於如何成為一個好的科學傳播者，她說：願意學、願意聽

" I think that’s what makes a good communicator: willingness to learn and to listen. "

應該不只是科學傳播者需要知道這個，所有的科學研究者都該這麼做不要覺得自己什麼都懂，對世界常保好奇才能越學越多

" Something I am also passionate about is bringing your authentic self to whatever you do: scientists are not robots, science is not done in a vacuum. "
