英文作文11:Things that I Have Learned in the Chorus Competition

In Hsinchu High school, the music class is featured by the annual chorus competion for sophomore classes.
This chorus competiton has become a time-honoredand its history can be traced back to the Jananese colonial period. This meaningful event was brought into our school in around the 1930s. The principalat that time thought singing would have a positive effect on students’ personality development. Students could learn teamwork and gain friendship in it. As a result, this event hasbeen passed down since then and become one of the most-anticipated events for sophomore students in Hsinchu High School.
In my class, we chose two songs for the competition——Firefly and Circle of life. Both of them are English songs, so it is quite hard for us to articulate.
Beingthe leader of the tenor part, I need to urge them to practice diligently and constantly because boys are often lazy to work. Sometimes they could be upset for lake of sleep when I asked them to practice in the morning. This is because I think there is no roay road to success: the more you sweat, the more you gain. Though we are tired, singing brings us joy and content . Besides, I have learned how to lead a group and patiently tell them the part we need to improve on. Moreover, I have also learned to assist the conductor for coordinating and then solving some problems. We made a lot of preparation for the competition. By the day, we won the third prize owing to our hard work. The result did not come as a surprise for my teachers because they had been confident in us.
During this process, I have learn something valuable through teamwork—how to get along with team members, how to solve the differences, and most importantly, how to sincerely learn from others and modestly show ourselves. Besides, I am also grateful for my teachers because of their encouragement and patience.
