Professor Peter Millican found that Robert Galbraith, the author of a detective novel, is in fact J. K. Rowling with the help of software Signature as well as Juola’s Java Graphical Authorship Attribution Program (JGAAP).

The techniques of Semantics not only allow the users to identify whether article A and B share the identical author or not, but also help them to predict people’s moves with the assistance of computers.  That is a focus in the book “Big Data.”

With the techniques, among others, the movie “Minority Report” would not be fiction.  Pseudo name would be pointless.

Ironically, the last question of the movie “Enemy of the State” that “Who's gonna monitor the monitors of the monitors” might be transformed into “Is it possible for the monitors and the monitors of the monitors to be free from being monitored?”    revised on 2013/07/18

也許，電影《全民公敵》最後對話「誰來監視『監視者』？」會意外的變成「監視者如何確認『不被監視』？」

英國牛津大學的彼得•米利坎教授用他的計算機語言學專業知識協助《星期日泰晤士報》揭露一本新出版偵探小說的真正作者是JK羅琳。

米利坎教授（Prof Peter Millican）用他研製的軟件分析和對比小說的文字。米利坎對BBC解釋他怎樣得出《杜鵑在呼喚》（The Cuckoo's Calling）的作者就是JK羅琳這個結論。

他說，《星期日泰晤士報》給他一些文字，他把這些文字與以下每名作者的兩段文字作比較：JK羅琳、魯斯•倫德爾（Ruth Rendell）、PD詹姆斯（PD James）和薇兒•麥克德米德（Val McDermid）」

羅琳的文字來自《臨時空缺》（The Casual Vacancy）以及哈里•波特系列最後一本書《哈里•波特與死神的聖物》。

米利坎說，「我精簡了這些文字，把它輸入軟件後進行多個測試，找出相似之處。」

「我用例如是字、句子和段落的長度，某些字出現的次數，標點符號的模式等作比較。」

「測試的大部分結果顯示新出版偵探小說與羅琳的《臨時空缺》和《哈利•波特與死神的聖物》最相似。」

「分析結果為《杜鵑在呼喚》的作者是羅琳的這個假設，提供有力證據。」

米利坎教授指出，他的分析所用的是最一般的字，例如「the」，「to」，「in」，並不是特別的字，這些字很多時候是作者最不自覺地用的，手法也多數是最一致的。

米利坎教授說，他的測試通常用同類型作品做比較，但這次很特別的是《杜鵑在呼喚》與其他作家的偵探小說的相似度，不及它與羅琳的非偵探小說那麼多。

「我認為這結果給這個分析測試重大意義。」

羅琳化名羅伯特-加爾布雷斯（Robert Galbraith）發表的《杜鵑在呼喚》在今年４月出版。《星期日泰晤士報》日前揭破羅琳就是加爾布雷思。
